Design Elements Treatment

Set: The set that we decided to use was a library since our story is based upon two stressed college students studying for finals. This set is the most applicable and relatable to the situation that we are trying to portray in our video.

Costumes/Make Up: The costumes we chose to wear in our video were hoodies and sweatpants to portray the stereotypical college student during finals week. The stress of finals makes students concerns shift to solely academics and loose their concern with dressing well. A baggy clothes look also contributes to a tired and worn out mood of the video. We had no need for any use of make up in our video.

Lights: Our use of lighting impacts the mood of our scenes. In our first two scenes our lighting is bright, as our two heroes must battle to study hard and prepare for their upcoming exams. In our third scene, our lighting is a little more dark and ominous as we hope to create pending gloom as the characters are waiting until they have to take their upcoming exams. In our final scene, the lights return to bright as the characters discuss how their exams went very well and they are optimistic and hopeful about the rest of their tests they must take.

Sound: Our plot did not warrant any music that needed to be involved as the preparation of studying is more of a silent task. However, there was background noise from the set that we did use as well as our dialogue was only at a moderate volume to pertain to the necessary volume that is required in a library.

Props: The main props that we used were books and a calculator as well as a bag of chips to represent the food our heroes got after they were studying. The books and calculator added the academic element to the plot. The chips actually assisted in a line of dialogue in the scene in which they appear and make the first character have to repeat himself.
