Week 2 Learning Team B Design Feature List
Site Audience
This site is intended for adults wine connoisseurs, gourmet chefs or home gourmet cooks with extra money to spend on fine foods and wine. It explains to visitors of the site what Kudler Fine Foods is about, in terms of what kinds of foods that can be found at their stores and what kind of image they want to project.
Site Purpose
The purpose of the site is to give information about the store and the products that are sold there. The overall design of the website caters to cooks, especially gourmet cooks. The ample use of fresh produce and earthy tones really sends the message of fine dining with fresh natural ingredients. This site is intended for people who purchase high end and specialty foods and wines, who live in the location areas, or people who are willing to travel some distance for specialty foods and wines.
Site Navigation and Goods Exposure
The site navigation and design conveniently cover and effectively show the main categories of their products, which are: Bakery, Produce, Wine, Meat & Seafood and Cheese & Dairy. Visitors can easily learn about their products, and immediately know that they don't offer items outside of those categories. Also, categories are correctly marked to always show where the visitor is.

1. Good use of contrasting background and text colors.
2. Targeted well to the intended audience as far as colors, design and graphics

5. The titles of each page or tab within the webpage are entirely capitalized. 6. Dark filler behind page tabs 7. Bright images and pictures to contrast lettering of tabs and content information 8. Images are of utensils and items found in many kitchens, as well as high end foods 9. Has a very upscale feel to the entire page

This is my list of possible changes:
1. The flash image at the top of the page is too big in my opinion. You have to scroll down a good bit to get to the important part of the site.
2. There is no contact information or link to email questions.
3. The survey page does not have a clear link back to the home page or any other page.

TEAM B EVALUATION

For the site of Kudler Fine Foods, we have evaluated this site and decided that making small adjustments to the size of the flash image may be needed. Moving the message that Kudler Fine Foods wants to state to the top of the page, makes it stand out more, while bringing the flash image to the lower part of the page. Contact information should be accessible for public view and removing the navigation bar from the very bottom due to similar navigation links as the one in the middle while moving the middle links to the bottom of the page. Finally make the navigation back to the home page easier regardless of the page currently selected.

The virtual organization that we evaluated was Kudler Fine Foods. This site is intended for adult wine connoisseurs, gourmet chefs or home gourmet cooks with extra money to spend on fine foods and wine. Also, for people live in the location areas, or people who are willing to travel some distance for specialty foods and wines. The site explains to visitors what Kudler Fine Foods is about, in terms of what kinds of foods that can be found at their stores and what kind of image they want to project.

Page Layout 1. Page is centered-Makes the site look better on different browsers. 2. Consistent navigation area-Reusing design feature throughout the site keeps it looking consistent. 3. Main navigation links are clearly and consistently labeled-This feature makes site navigation easier and consistent because the visitor will know where to find the links.

Design- All of the following features creates the mood of the site and are well targeted to the intended audience. Use of bright colors or excessive animation would have come off as garish. This site needed to be upscale and elegant.

2. Informative page title that includes the company/organization/site name-This feature is always important to continually remind visitors of the site’s purpose, to sell their product.
3. Navigation is easy to use for target audience-A consistent and easy navigation makes the site user friendly.
4. All navigation hyperlinks work- Non-working links gives the impression of an incomplete site or neglected site, this does not put off a good impression of the company. Having all links working shows that the company maintains its site, therefore an impression of maintaining quality foods and wine.
5. Explanations of the kind of foods that Kudler Fine Foods offers-All pages need to be clearly explained of their purpose and the products.
6. Informative details about how the store was started as well as their mission-Background information are important to a visitor to build a relationship of trust for the company.
7. Offers a survey to allow for any individual who has visited the store and site to voice their opinions about their service and experience-The survey proves that the company is willing to listen and improve based on customer feedback.
8. Provides terms of service for patrons-Gives a visitor comfort and knowledge of exactly how the company functions.
Recommendations for Improvements 1. The store survey page did not contain an easy link back to the previous pages without the use of the back button on the browser. 2. I found a typo on the News section after clicking more. (exclusive, spelled exclusive) 3. There is no contact information on the site.
Site analysis
The updated Kudler Fine Foods site has similar design features to the original site. Based on the original design features list most of the design criteria for the site have been met. The page layout and the design of the site have met all of the design features required. The content does not have all of the required design features. The following is an analysis of what features were met and which were not:
Page layout 1. The page layout is centered to keep design features. 2. Consistent navigation area to keep design features. Changes have been made to allow for navigation once on the survey page of the site. 3. Main navigation links are clearly labeled to keep design features.

Design 1. Color schemes kept the same. 2. Contrasting background and text is still used. 3. Same graphics and images are used throughout site. 4. The text throughout the site is antialiased to keep design features. 5. The title of each tab within the site is entirely capitalized to keep design features.

Content 1. Not all of the tabs have the correct text associated with their particular section. 2. The page title is informative and includes the company name. Changes were made to add, Welcome to, before Kudler Fine Foods within the site title. 3. Navigation is easy to use for target audience to keep design features. 4. All navigation hyperlinks work to keep design features. With the addition of being able to leave the survey page using the hyperlinks. 5. The tabs show what kinds of foods are offered, but the explanations for each kind is not functional at this time. 6. Informative details about store beginnings and mission are not functional at this time. 7. Survey is not functional at this time. 8. Terms of service not functional at this time.

For the site of Kudler Fine Foods, we have evaluated this site and decided that making small adjustments to the size of the flash image were needed. Also consistently reusing the design feature and centering the page gives it a more uniformed look. We used design and graphics as well as contrasting background and text colors in order to target well to the intended audience. The graphics are optimized so that they do not slow down significantly. All text is antialiased, while the titles of each page are entirely capitalized using darker filler behind the page tabs. The content is kept to a minimum, giving its readers a quick history of the company and how it was started, and clearly explaining the purpose of each product. The best part is that is offers a survey for anyone wishing to voice their opinion about their service and experience and provides the terms of service for patrons for comfort and knowledge, showing the exact functionality of the company.
