They showed moderate strength in the following categories: kindness, emotional stability, openness to experience and awareness, with the openness to experience that has the lowest score. They showed high resistance to extraversion. People with positive emotional, security stand up well under pressure. "People with low scores can become anxious, insecure, nervous, or in the worst scenario when a heavy depressed" (Robbins & Judge, 2011). Determining Your Perfect Position

...Determining Your Perfect Position LDR/531 December 24, 2012 Stefanie Hopson Determining Your Perfect Position The development of an organization within the construction industry is a continual process influenced by the economy, client demands, technological and social change, and globalization (Yukl, 2010). I am a 7 year veteran employee of the United States Infrastructure Corporation. Although I have the most tenure, at 26 years old, I am the youngest manager in this organization. I began my career in 2005 as a dispatcher. When the company dissolved the local dispatch function, opting for a centralized dispatch at our corporate office instead, I transitioned to an administrative position. Shortly thereafter, the company lost a major contract, resulting in the loss of many administrative jobs and my lateral transfer into a field position as an outdoor field locator technician. I did well in the field. I was team leader, consistently exceeding my individual quality and productivity goals. In 2009, the district manager sought an experienced lead tech for the Claims Coordinator position and eventually recruited me. The purpose of this paper is to determine the position I would best fit within the company assuming USIC is again expanding and restructuring (University of Phoenix, 2012). In my current role as a Claims Coordinator, I determine financial liability for damages by reviewing the damage files submitted...

Determing Your Perfect Position

...Determining Your Perfect Position Catherine B. LDR/531 December 19, 2011 Eddie Aprile Determining Your Perfect Position Understanding leadership styles is an excellent way for one to understand an effective way to lead others in an organization. Leadership styles have long been an interesting subject for those involved in organizational behavior because it allows people to understand the motivation behind decisions made in an organizational hierarchy. According to Yukl, (2010), “Most definitions of leadership reflect the assumption that it involves a process whereby intentional influence is exerted over other people to guide, structure, and facilitate activities and relationships in a group or organization” (p. 3). Leadership styles can vary based on the individual. Some people are task-oriented, which means one focuses more on getting the job done. Others are person-oriented, which means one focuses more on the emotional element of people than getting the task completed. The ideal person, especially in management and as a leader, is one who is both task and people-oriented; this person cares about how others emotions are as well as how the job is completed. In this paper, the strength and weaknesses of this author’s leadership style will be assessed as well as a brief comparison and contrasting of leadership style will be examined. The author’s personal leadership style will be looked at in an organizational setting and what position would be perfect for the author in...

Workforce Planning

...HRA 4210 Work Planning & Talent Management The process of determining staffing levels aims to identify the numbers and types of employees needed to be successful in solidifying the business plans and strategies for an organization. Organizations apply several different techniques to accomplish this task. However, there are ways to implement fundamental building blocks to set a baseline for success; but due to numerous variables, a step-by-step concrete solution for determining staffing levels cannot exist. Consistent within any stage of strategic staffing, it is crucial to understand the overall plans and strategies of the business and what factors are driving staffing. As discussed by Heneman, “organization effectiveness and staffing systems exist, and should be used, to contribute to the attainment of organizational goals such as survival, profitability, and growth. A macro view of staffing like this is often lost or ignored because most of the day-to-day operations of staffing systems involve micro activities that are procedural, transactional, and routine in nature. While these micro activities are essential for staffing systems, they must be viewed within the broader macro context of the positive impacts staffing can have on organization effectiveness” (6). Managers and Human Resources must share a common understanding of the business needs and react through implementing corresponding staffing levels. Only with a common perspective between management and human...

...Determining Your Perfect Position Workshop # 4 University of Phoenix LDR/531: Organizational Leadership MBAY0W8YR1 Instructor: Chris Lewis April 4, 2011 Someone once said “Money makes the world go round.” I believe that is an apt description. In order to earn money, a source of income must be had, but the quality of that job is another story all together. Most children imagine having their dream job when they grow up and having lots of money. That is a great dream, and one worth striving for, but the truth is, the majority of people are not lucky enough to have a perfect job and they do not tend to make the amount of money they are worth. Imagine if it was possible to create your dream position within your current organization. What would it be, Chief Marketing Advisor, Reports Analyst, or Client Liaison, the possibilities are endless. Anyone would agree that they would be happy in the perfect position in their career. But what would it take to achieve such a scenario? Starting a journey to anywhere worth going requires an understanding of why one wants to go there, some planning to get there, and some realization of whether what you really want to do is awaiting you when you arrive. This paper will analyze strengths and weaknesses of Shantel’s leadership style, compare and contrast leadership theories, and identify jobs that will fit her leadership style. Strengths and Weaknesses Leadership, according to Stephen P. Robbins, is the ability to guide a team...

Recruitment Strategy and Job Offer Process

...Recruitment Strategy and Job Offer Process Paper Jami Kellogg HRM/548 August 10, 2015 Victoria Jones Recruitment Strategy and Job Offer Process Paper Recruiting strategies vary by job position available, what candidates do the company want to attract, and how can these strategies bring in long term employment for the company. No one strategy will fit in every area, so the Hr department must come up with a strategic plan that can be altered easily to fit the needs of the company at any given time. When it comes to filling positions for business, education or engineering each are completely different from one another, but hard to fill and hard to keep filled. Each strategy will need to fit each area to attract the best person for the job. Educators are not hard to come by, but the turnaround is high because the incentives are not there. When it comes to recruitments strategies for hiring educators there needs to be incentives that entice the person to want to become a part of the team for that school. The strategies that the HR department can use to attract candidates for this position are higher benefits and supplement packages. “In general, teaching salaries tend to be low, so it’s important to let potential applicants know what else your school offers. Make sure your advertisements feature information about health insurance, salary supplements, and retirement benefits.” (WikiHOW, n.d.). Job fairs and widely used advertisement is also a great strategy when it comes...

Managerial Skills

...SPT 612 Prof. Hsiao Maurice Miller 29 September 2013 The Dirty Truth on Rewarding Employees I found an article that sparked my interest on the Harvard Business Review’s Working Knowledge website for many reasons but primarily because it was an article that discussed the real impacts of rewarding employees for certain things in the workplace, which I feel is a very important aspect of management in the workplace. In “How to Demotivate Your Best Employees” by Dina Gerdeman, she takes very important pieces from a recent paper called The Dirty Laundry of Employee Award Programs: Evidence from the Field, written by Harvard Business School Assistant Professor Ian Larkin, along with professor Lamar Pierce and doctoral student Timothy Gubler from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis where the researchers studied an attendance award program initiated by managers at one of the five commercial-industrial laundries owned by the same mid-western company. Perfect attendance was defined as not having any unexcused absences or tardy shift arrivals during the month (Gubler, 2013). Even though the company had the right intentions in mind the study showed that programs such as this often times result in more negative impacts and positive. To understand how to make a beneficial rewards program is important for all future career choices and to make sure you can maintain a productive working environment in doing so. The article cracked the perceived notion...

...to look at in the evaluation of a source. These three items are credibility, validity, and relevance (Colorado, n.d.). The credibility of the author is the first step in determining whether or not to use a given source. You must think about the author as a scholar and determine what makes them qualified to be writing this article or paper. Some things to look at are formal education, history of research on the topic at hand, as well as any other experience with the topic such as the author’s career (Colorado, n.d.). The next step in determining the quality of a research source is to look at the validity of research contained in the article or paper. You may want to look at the position the author takes: is it biased to one side or the other, or is it written objectively to give both sides a fair argument? You can also ask yourself: is the argument made based on research rather than the author’s own experiences? One of the most important things to take note of is whether or not the information is cited (Colorado, n.d.). Just because an article is written well does not mean that it contains correct information. A well-written article also does not mean it is a valid source for research purposes. The third and final step in the evaluation of a research source is to look at whether or not the article or paper is relevant to the topic you are presenting. You want the article to be somewhat broad, but it still needs to make sense with what you will be writing about (Colorado, n.d...

Perfect Raise Agency – One of the Best Choices on the Russian Public Relations Market

...Professor John Polich JMC 370 31 October 2013 Perfect Raise Agency – one of the Best Choices on the Russian Public Relations Market Nowadays, there are numerous public relations agencies that help companies to differentiate themselves on the Russian market. Because of the large variety of choices, Russian people tend to have difficulties identifying the best options available on this market. With the help of this paper, I will try to convince the reader that despite its comparatively small size and relatively short work experience in the field of PR, Perfect Raise agency is among the best choices the Russian public relations market has to offer. The arguments in support of this statement will be built on the analysis of the company’s origins, its history, status, achievements, competitors, the market share and its relationship to the local government. In the concluding part of this paper I will elaborate on the reasons for which holding a position in this company seems to be attractive from my point of view. Despite of its extensive service record, “Perfect Raise is not considered to be a large agency” (Krasev 2-6). It is a relatively compact company that provides Russian people with an outstanding service in the field of public relations. The company was founded “as a sole proprietorship with the main source of funding coming from the dowry” (Kolesnikov 9-11). Its founder, Igor Maslennikov, positioned the company as a family business with him...

Best Goal Setting

...Goal setting, is defined in the Cambridge dictionary as, the process of deciding what you want to achieve or what you want someone else to achieve over a particular period of time. Choosing what is right for oneself is an integral part of one’s future, and requires being smart about it. Any endeavor either personal or business needs a compass to navigate to destination. That compass provides an effective and dependable method for determining the direction one wishes to accomplish, and without a written goal, the very much needed effort to put forth might vanish and relinquish the effort needed to count success. Goal setting provides the direction and focus to attain success in the many aspects of one’s life. The best goal setting must cover...

Financial Analysis of Ctr

...Introduction This research paper will analysis and discuss the question of whether the owner of a small business corporation is better off taking a salary or drawing a dividend. The salary vs. dividend question is common among small business corporation owners. Unfortunately, there is no one straight forward answer. There are two types of share holder owners who are eligible to extract funds from a corporation, shareholders that actively work within the corporation and shareholders that are not active within the corporation. The shareholder owner that works within the corporation is given the option of drawing a salary or dividend. The shareholder that own shares but does not actively work in corporation can draw dividends only. This paper will focus on the active owners of a small business corporation. The analysis will compare the methods and the impact on owners as well as the corporation using each approach. The mix method will also be analyzed and discussed. Basic tax concepts are based on the theory of integration. BDO defines Integration in The Tax Factor, they say that” A tax system is said to be integrated if the same amount of overall tax is paid when the income is earned indirectly through a corporation or directly by an individual.” (BDO Dunwoody, 2009, p.1) According to this theory there should be no difference to the individual regardless of the method chosen. But we know that in order for there to be integration the rates have to be perfectly...
