Topic I

What chance do we American citizens have of survival with the failing out-of-control medical system of the United States, is probably a question that comes up in debates quite often. Some would say that the system is just, and fair to our communities, and others would say that it isn't, and there are others who really don't care. To be perfectly honest I feel as though the system does indeed work, but there are plenty of changes that need to occur. You see I have never been in a situation to see firsthand the medical system fail neither I, or my family and friends. But on the other hand I have read and heard stories of how if the doctors had of caught an illness earlier, or if they did something different in procedure during an operation peoples loved ones would still be alive. So in regards the question of whether or not I feel the system works, my answer is yes, because it hasn't failed me yet. Taking a specific look at the Michael Jackson case, you see that the medical system has once again caught the blame for an untimely death. But in my opinion I feel as though Michael Jackson himself is to blame. Some would ask how I could say something like that, don't you know he was a legend? My answer to them is this; Michael was truly indeed a legend, a legend like most other stars dealing with some type of dejection which caused his fixation with Propofol which is a powerful anesthetic not meant for home use, which in the end is said to be the main cause of his death. It wasn't the system that killed Michael Jackson, but instead it was a drug that he chose to administer on himself. That being said, it goes back to when I made the statement of there being some changes made in the system. One is most definitely the access to these powerful deadly drugs, that if administered without the proper individuals, it most definitely has the capability of killing someone. Which is the sole reason in Michael Jacksons case. I would also like to see bigger Hospital Emergency stations, there are way too many incidences when people are waiting for hours, and hours for them to be seen. If you make the stations bigger, you can have more doctors and nurses, and the less people would have to wait to be helped. I think society as a whole, should stop and think of what they can do to help, rather than getting mad and pointing the finger. Are there cases where something else could have been done to save one's life, I'm sure there are. But what did the family do to rectify that occurrence? Did they stand up and report it, and demand that it never happened again to someone else's loved one? Or did they just sick back and complain along with the millions of other American citizens? What happened to Michael Jackson was very unfortunate, but how many other people has this happened to and no one has said anything. What chance do we American citizens have of survival with the failing out-of-control medical system of the United States, is no longer the appropriate question. But instead the question should now be; What as American citizens can we do to help our medical system, when we have unlimited resources at our feet?
