Battery
Battery is a criminal offense involving unlawful physical contact, distinct from assault which is the apprehension, not fear, of such contact.

Assault
In common law, assault is an act which causes a person to apprehend immediate unlawful person violence. An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in either criminal and/or civil liability
False imprisonment
False imprisonment is a restraint of a person in a bounded area without justification or consent. False imprisonment is a common-law felony and a tort. It applies to private as well as governmental detention. When it comes to public police, the proving of false imprisonment is sufficient to obtain a writ of habeas corpus.
Libel/Slander
Under common law, to constitute defamation, a claim must generally be false and have been made to someone other than the person defamed. Some common law jurisdictions also distinguish between spoken defamation, called slander, and defamation in other media such as printed words or images, called libel.
Conversion
A conversion is a voluntary act by one person inconsistent with the ownership rights of another.
Trespass
Trespass is an area of tort law broadly divided into three groups: trespass to the person, trespass to chattels and trespass to land.
Private Nuisance
An activity or thing that interferes with the use of property by an individual (or a few individuals) by being irritating, offensive, or obstructive. Nuisances can include everything from noise and illegal gambling to posting indecent signs and misdirecting water on to other property. Conditions that affect an entire community are a public nuisance. Lawsuits may be brought to abate (remove or reduce) a nuisance.

Ding Dong Ditch Research Paper

...I sincerely appreciate your diligent effort on this ongoing issue. My question is, after two broken windows and now this game of “ding dong ditch” (although did not result in any property damage) what can be done to actually stop this? We are not naive in the fact we live a block from a school, and understand that kids cutting through our grass, or having wrappers, papers, etc. left on the lawn, it happens. But, how do we stop the blatant disregard for someone’s private property? We work hard to maintain our property and take pride in having a nice well maintained home and lawn, and it is incredibly stressful and frustrating coming home and having to do a walk around of the outside of our house to see what may have been broken or vandalized...

...secure and insecure, by using a standard laboratory assessment known as the “Strange Situation” developed by Ainsworth, insecure attachment was divided further into sub groups, ambivalent and avoidant (Ding, S. & Littleton, K. 2005). Whilst discussing attachment theory which utilises the concept of an internal working model other approaches in terms of understanding how parenting affects child development will be explored. Theoretical positions such as social learning theory which lies heavily on behaviourist principles will be looked at, parenting styles where patterns of parenting will be discussed and inter-generational transmission which serves to perpetuate society’s inequalities and disadvantages with negative connotations for a child’s psychological development (Ding, S. & Littleton, K. 2005). “Disturbed” and “Disturbing Behaviour” will also be explored. The medical model and social model perspectives challenge the understanding in terms of attributing cause of problem behaviour to either the child or environment, discussion will take place around ecological adaptiveness (Brofenbrenner, 1979; Brofenbrenner and Morris, 1998) and how problems are defined through relationships between children, their social context and the beliefs and judgements of the assessing adults (Ding, S. & Littleton, K. 2005). The essay will conclude with a view of just how important sensitive...

Appreciation of Chinese Art and Design

...architecture and Chinese paper cutting. I. Symmetry in Ancient Chinese Bronze artwork Bronzes basically can be classified into four types in terms of function: food vessels, wine vessels, water vessels and musical instruments. Various shapes and designs can be found in each type, fully demonstrating the creativity and skills of the ancient people. Despite of this, symmetry was used as a universal basic aesthetic principle. Ancient Chinese bronzes stressed balance and symmetry of form, and communicated solemnity and ceremony. Among the various kinds of bronze vessels, ding is a significant category. Cancer Synthesis Essay

...Cancer is more likely to occur if an individual is missing both tumor suppressor genes and the oncoprotein, tumor suppressor, levels are high (Interview with Dr. Brower 2015, see acknowledgments). As cancer progresses, the amount of nutrients and oxygen available lowers to create a hypoxic environment (Ioannou et al. 2011). Also, cancer cells prevent apoptosis from occurring; apoptosis is when the forces in the cell lead to cell death (Interview with Dr. Brower 2015, see acknowledgments). For example, the accumulation of protein marked ubiquitin, length of suppression of the ubiquitin proteasome system, and the amount of stress the accumulation puts on a cell determines if apoptosis will occur (Ding et al. 2007). When the cell is in a hypoxic...

But go ahead, type in #pennyfinds, #pennyhunting, #pennydeals on Instagram and you will be taken to a nether space in the universe full of amazing, whowudathunk deals. The purchasing power of a singular coin has marked the online collective consciousness and “pennyhunters” boast of a ludicrous following on social media. Toys, clothes, shoes, jewelry, appliances, home goods -- the list goes on to infinity and perhaps even further. You the customer- you WIN. You just beat the system! And with the addictive seduction, the rush of adrenaline once you hit one of these penny unicorns, you will be a penny crackhead in no time, I guarantee it. The first time it happened to me, I found a pair of brand new shoes that retailed for under $50 at Nordstrom Rack. It was...

...(sorry for whoever is reading this, please accept my apology). It annoys me so much that I can rant about it for hours, so I will try to keep this brief so that a) you won't fall asleep half way through and b) i won't break my keyboard whilst typing furiously . So, TV adverts. Where to start? How about their ringtone or theme tunes or whatever type of music it is classified as? Actually, I take that back completely, it is NOT music. An advert that goes "ding, ding, ding, ding," in an annoyingly high pitched "ding?" is not music. (It annoys me as much as high voiced men annoy Miranda, such fun, sorry couldn't resist :D ). In my opinion, it should be classed as dangerous as drugs, alcohol or even the nicotine in cigarettes. It is so addictive that it gets stuck in your head and even though you know you will never play bingo -at least not till you're like 100- and that people shouldn't advertise a kind of gambling (because it's just going to end up with you bankrupt living on a street), you still can't get that "ding, ding, ding,...

Nnnn

...Kenia Vargas Weekly Response Paper #2 I was really amazed by the amount of vessels that I read from the book. My favorite vessel was the “ding vessel”. This was my favorite vessel because it reminded me of a stone mortar called “mortero de piedra” in Spanish. We use this stone mortar to make a spicy salsa, so when ever I look at the ding vessel it reminds me of my own culture. It has the same structure with the four legs to support the “bowl” on the top. The ding vessel was used for cooking as well as in my culture with the stone mortar. They were also used for storage and rituals offerings to their ancestors. When this vessel was used during rituals it was a symbol of authority. If someone owed more than one of this kind of vessel they were associated with power and domination over land. The decoration has a lot of significance in this kind of vessel. For example in the most common ding vessel, the final type of decoration was the inscription. These inscriptions were used to identify the function of the vessel, the owner or they could simply be poems or even stories of why the ding was created. Another thing that amazed me was the different styles of art comparing a Japan vessel with a Korean vessel. When we discussed about those two pieces of art in class I was so interested in knowing why the styles were so similar yet different at the same time. After the discussion we had I was comparing both objects and I noticed more differences than similarities and it...

Harmful Effects of Soda

...10 teaspoons of sugar enter your system. One can of Coke alone has enough sugar to fulfill the FDA’s recommended daily intake. Ten minutes later your blood sugar rises creating a boost in insulin. By the fortieth minute the caffeine in the drink is fully absorbed causing your pupils to dilate and your blood pressure to rise. At this point the brain has blocked your adenosine receptors, preventing drowsiness (Meredith). Caffeine is a highly addictive drug that most people use to wake them up and get a little boost of energy when feeling tired. Consuming too much caffeine can cause side effects as extreme as cancers of the bladder and stomach, symptoms of diabetes, raised blood pressure, and it may even contribute to birth defects in babies (Ding). Forty-five minutes have gone by since consuming the can of coke now your body raises the amount of dopamine produced exciting the pleasure sensors in your brain. This is very similar to how heroin works (Meredith). The...
