Technology has been changing the way we communicate for years, and is constantly evolving. From the early days of actual paper letters, telegraph, facsimile, telephone, television, to cellular phones, email, texting, social media and video chat. It seems many of our older ways of communicating have begun to diminish over the years. More often people don't actually write letters to leave in the mailbox anymore. Secondly, many people don't even have home telephones anymore, as cellular phones have taken over and are owned most of the population. Email and texting have become more common, convenient, and faster in communicating.

In business, emails, cell phones, two-way radio communications, video conference calls, electronic displays for presentations are very common in the work place. This has helped expedite messages that either can't wait or made clearer when it comes to visual aids.

In my profession, we use our cellular phones daily for texting or calling with updates or important messages as we work in a very large plant and this makes it easier to get a hold of someone in a much faster manner. We also use our cell phones and ipads for re-search on the internet or face-time to one another when help is needed and someone may be off-site. For meetings, we use the internet, our own internal network, charts and other presentations on a big screen display to analyze and communicate data. Visual aids such as these are very good ways to communicate to a larger group. Additionally, we use video conference calls with personnel at our other plant in Ireland. We depend on these technologies second-nature to help us communicate and be more successful in the work place daily. They also allow me to perform work from when needed via cell, text, email or
