Dishonor In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold

In Gabriel García Márquez’s fictional text , Chronicle of a Death Foretold readers were introduced to a series of different perceptions that have influenced the development of the novel which provides prudent assertion. The perceptions of 1. dishonor, 2. honor, and 3. murder have played an important aspect throughout the novel when it comes to the analysis and examination of its own. The utilization of these perceptions have lead readers to accentuate that Márquez setups a fictional assimilation that gives the reading a realistic perspective which establishes a down-to-earth relation all throughout the developing of the novel. The concept of honor is illustrated towards specific part throughout the developing and the course of the novel when it comes to following traditional perspectives and views among how each gender should interact among their specific “requirement” towards society in a non-modern nation at the time. When Pablo Vicario the father of Angela Vicario illustrates why honoring was an important aspect of tradition, and culture he states “Before God and before men,” Pablo Vicario said. “It was a matter of honor” (García Márquez 49). This statement proclaim by Pablo Vicario displays how tradition and culture were on top of anything in the world and even more important when God perfection and views towards religion among the novel. In addition, tradition in the town was a crucial aspect when it comes to the persuasion of marriages and honorable behavior towards spouses. Furthermore, women in society and who resident in the town were not meant to be disrespected by anyone except their husbands this illustrates how honoring before marriage was an important aspect of society at the time which lead to influential of tradition and culture among the developing of the novel. Moreover, a particular situation occurs when Angela’s mother detects that her daughter didn't go into marriage being pure, when Angela depicts what has arise towards her she states “Holding me by the hair …show more content…
Towards the end of the novel readers were able to assimilated that murder was influenced by honoring and tradition among the society which played an important role when it comes to the specification of the death of Santiago Nasar. After Nasar’s death for taking again Angela’s purity before her getting married, the assassin which were Angela’s brothers Pedro and Pablo Vicario demonstrate why their actions were not considered to be murder speculations, when trying to defend their case towards the judge Pedro states “We killed him openly, “Pedro Vicario said, "but we're innocent." "Perhaps before God," said Father Amador. “Before God and before men," Pablo Vicario said. “It was a matter of honor.” (García Márquez 96). By substantiating and defending themselves towards the ideas of their phycological mindset and the way they view society and each gender towards the crime they have devoted readers are able to see that honoring was an important aspect of culture which distinguish each gender based on their sociological view of the society and the world at the time. In addition, readers are able to emphasized that murdering an individual for taking away a women purity is reasonable for doing so at the time in which the novel took place in.
