Discuss the role of supportive relationships in reducing the risk of abuse and neglect, using examples.

Why is important to maintain a good relationship with family and friends?
It is important to maintain a good healthy relationship with friends and family to help reduce the affects that abuse either has taken place or to reduce abuse from happening. Having a supportive relationship with those who are close to you can help people stay away from the risk or recover from forms of abuse and neglect. If an patient has been abused or neglected they may be removed from the environment and taken somewhere safe, they best option is too stay with a family member so creating a good relationship with other family members can help set up a secure background setting.
Having a healthy relationship with others will help individuals to gain trust within them for help with different types of support. If a patient is unhappy with the care they are getting, they wouldn’t tell anyone they would talk to someone that they trust, and ask that person to report it instead. To build a supportive relationship can just start with something small like visiting them a few times a week, with other family. If there is abuse happening in the care home, then the frequent visits could help by keeping an eye on the attitude and behaviour of the person in care and the physical signs if there are any. Then after evidence is gathered it can be taken to police to stop abuse from taking place. It will stop the individual from suffering and many also under the care of the person. * Case Study Example
A care home assistant, Emma Bryan, was sent to prison for “unforgiveable and unacceptable” neglect and ill-treatment of an 89 year old women.
Emma Bryan’s “sickening” mistreatment of Ivy Robinson was uncovered only after the pensioner’s family recorded the abuse on a camera concealed within an alarm
