Instructions: Prepare your responses to the questions below, and submit them to me in a paper no later than Please respond to all parts of all questions, and be as complete and concise as possible. Refer to the syllabus for additional information and guidelines, and don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions or need me to clarify anything concerning this assignment.
1. Select one divergent principle and one convergent principle from Table 4.1 of the text. (If you want, you can substitute the “wild card principle” for either one of the above.)
a. In your own words, briefly define these two principles.
b. Briefly discuss two episodes from your own experience (professional or personal) that illustrate the principles you’ve selected (one episode for each principle).

Assessing the Situation from Table 4.1, requires a Diagnostic Thinking Skill. This type of thinking would be considered convergent thinking. This method of thinking, falls into the convergent thinking principle because it requires the prioritization and though process of sorting through all of the options and determining which step to take next. I am currently facing a situation that requires me to do some convergent thinking, including diagnostic thinking. With the merger of our two companies, I have to start planning for growth and where we need to place people in relation to our growth strategy. I have to evaluate what my opportunities are and what potential changes are necessary.
Formulating a plan from Table 4.1, requires a Tactical Thinking skill. Tactical thinking would fall into the divergent thinking principle because it requires planning and evaluating the opportunities and then putting them into action.
