Saving Money by Using Power Management

...Saving Money by Using Power Management In the first paragraph of your Case Project, please give the purpose, situation, or outline of the topic you’ve selected. For example, CP 3-2 on page 147 of the text book indicates Gigantic Life Insurance is looking to save some cash, but I’m not going to give you the paragraph for your paper. Just give a basic recap of the paragraph in the book. It may be nearly word-for-word. The second and third paragraphs allow you to describe the proposed solutions, procedures, opinions, thoughts, positions, or whatever is required to satisfy the case objectives. Write this paper in the voice the text requests or just as a written response to me. These papers will not be read to the class, nor will they be harshly graded. The purpose of the Case Projects is to engage critical thinking in the realm of the subject and communication of ideas. This is not a writing course, but written communications is important in the IT world. Your final paragraph should include a recap of the objective and solution. Please remember to keep the audience in mind. If your selected topic is a letter to other IT folks, you may use technical jargon without a ton of explanation. However, if you’re to write a user policy for example, you should tone down the tech talk to end-user level. Remember to include AT LEAST one external source in each of your papers. This source may be anything you’d like as long as it has something, anything...

Chapter 9 Law Paper

...Facts: Oklahoma State University provided Professor Eric Angevine with a computer linked to the university network, and through it to the Internet. Angevine used this computer to download over 3,000 pornographic images of young boys. After viewing the images and printing some of them, he deleted the files. Tipped off by Professor Angevine’s wife, police officers seized the computer and turned it over to a police computer expert who retrieved the pornographic files that the professor had deleted. The Oklahoma State University computer policy states that: The contents of all storage media owned or stored on University computing facilities are the property of the University. Employees cannot use University computers to access obscene material. The University reserves the right to view or scan any file or software stored on a computer or passing through the network, and will do so periodically to audit the use of University resources. The University cannot guarantee confidentiality of stored data. System administrators keep logs of file names, which may indicate why a particular data file is being erased, when it was erased, and what user identification has erased it. The trial court held that federal agents did not need a warrant to search Professor Angevine’s office computer because he had no expectation of privacy. The judge sentenced him to fifty-one months in prison for “knowing possession of child pornography.” The professor appealed. Issue: Did Professor...

Mrs Rana Hijazi

...Week 5: Confidentiality and Bioethical Issues (Nov 20 - Nov 27) Welcome to Week 5! This week, we discuss issues related to bioethics. Since the time of Hippocrates, “First Do No Harm” has been the medical mandate. It is the basic concept that drives all of the codes of ethics for the health professions. The concept is one of the first you learn in school. From this comes the duty to make ethical decisions “in the best interest of the patient.” While all medical professionals would agree that this is the goal, not all would agree on exactly what IS the best interest of the patient in a given situation. Healthcare workers—and specifically physicians—work hard to save lives. Many times, death is seen as a medical failure. Health professionals go to great lengths to preserve life with the assumption that saving the life—at all costs—is in the best interest of all patients. In the past, if that left the patient paralyzed or in a vegetative coma, it was still success - they were alive. Today, this assumption is being reconsidered as patients themselves demand to decide for themselves what is in their own best interest. Of particular interest is Oregon law which states, "an adult who is capable and has been determined by the attending doctor to be suffering from a terminal disease, and who has voluntarily expressed his or her wish to die, may make a written request for medication for the purpose of ending his or her life in a humane and dignified manner." In short, the patient can...
