CHAPTER I 1.0 INTRODUCTION

Datamex College of Saint Adeline was using a manual grading system in their computation of grades. Computation manually is hard, very hard for the side of the instructor because there are certain instances that the file or data of the students may lose. There grades will be affected. Most of the errors of a manual grading system was the grades or data was not secure. It can see and edit by anyone or worst it can change all the data on their grading sheet.

Having a manual grading system is like having a calculator, there are several situations that you input a wrong number then all your works will turn back into the beginning. Another time consumed. Another process and most specially another effort. Computing the grades of the students is one of the sensitive tasks of an instructor because some students will complain about the result of their grade sometimes they are not satisfy with the computation.

Nowadays most of the schools are becoming modernized. They use modern technology to make their transactions fast, easy and accurate in order to avoid and lessen the time consumed. Having a modern technology in a school protects and secures confidential information. It also helps humans in terms of fast computing. Grading system is an example of complex transaction because it is critical grading operation dealing with numerous and produces of confidential files.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study is to support and improve the grading system of DCSA (Datamex College of Saint Adeline) The current grading system of DSCA, which uses Microsoft excel is difficult on the part of the user.

This study provides an overview of how the grading system of Datamex College of Saint Adeline , this case study aims to show how to organize this information into a secure storage and how to process changes to students information through the proposed grading system.

1.2 HISTORY OF CHOSEN COMPANY

It all started when a young and debonair as well as dynamic at the age of nineteen years old. Oscar, a man who is aptly described as dependable, well mannered and hardworking, ventured to know and learn about the new rising computer technology in the 20th century. It was then in the early 70’s when he took the risk to work in one of the companies in the United States regarding the computer operations. With all his efforts, he relentlessly pursued his vision of academic excellence in his studies and at the same time enjoyed his life with his friends and family in the land of milk and honey.
His personality, human relations and success prove to no avail. Success in life, to a considerable degree, is the result of his understanding and developing skills in human relationship. Thus, he became an analyst programmer, expert software developer in the USA an in Philippine.

What prompted him to open a school? Some group of executives in the US enthusiastically suggested with “gusto" to open up a computer school in the Philippines. Why Not? Doused his nose with perfume as he held his head up high-with a Filipino smile captured his dream. In fact, those executives were his students when he taught them to clear out the experience in all aspects of Computerology.

That did it! The fulfillment of his dream has come to realize when he returned to his homeland. His unwavering faith in God and fervent devotion and a burning desire to brings his blessings of VOCATIONAL EDUCATION to the poor but deserving Filipinos in Manila through student welfare programs. Mr. Oscar M. Ibay took the lead in the school’s academic –vocational development.

In October 28, 1978 the school has acquired the go signal from the then, Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS) the vocational courses like information and communication technology; hotel/restaurant services and CHED ladderized courses.
With passing of the years, the school DATAMEX Institute of Computer Technology got more than its fair first of laurels and accomplishment. He introduced the first center to the Makati employees the IBM program and basic COMPUTER OPERATIONS. Mr.Ibay’s unceasing dream took a significant stay in fulfillment its aim to upgrade the quality of Education through International Standard Organization.

DATAMEX came about of a dream and a vision. Mr. Oscar M. Ibay, an advocator, founder and president, has poured out his warmth and generosity to the poor but deserving young Filipinos to pursue good education where Datamex can provide. He leads the banner together with his family, in full force, working together as he looks forward to a future of greater challenges and larger undertakings.

Datamex Institute of Computer Technology continues its stride to more solid years of exploration, dedication and commitment. Soon to open a sister school to be christened Datamex College of Saint Adeline Inc, to offer BS degree courses with great expansion to help our youth in the far flung areas by creating another educational service to mankind and other linkages like Saint Adeline Realty and Tours, Inc. Saint Adeline Travel and Tours Inc.

CHAPTER II 1.2 Statement of the Problem Datamex College of Saint Adeline (Valenzuela Branch) is currently using the manual system, with kind of system errors and discrepancies in manual grading system are possible during work. These reports and records are very important. 1.2.1 General Statement of the Problem The general problem of their manual system was it needs a full upgrade or improvements. 1.2.2 Specific Statement of the Problem The specific problems of their manual system was the process of their computation were slow. The arrangement of their files was not organize and sort. The grades of their students maybe lose by the blink of their eyes. It is not secure.

CHAPTER III OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 1.3.1 General Objectives Our general objective is to be able improve their manual system to give benefits with them.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives Our specific objectives are to be able to organized files in order to find it easily. To be able to sort the information of their students. To be able to lessen their time in computing their students grades and most specially to be able to secure their files and documents.

CHAPTER IV

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of our study is to process the grades faster and easier. And it will prevent errors most especially human error in computing grades. It will organize all files of their students. They will have a secure data and information and it can easily make a hardcopy of their students grades. It is more convenient and accurate.

CHAPTER V SCOPES AND LIMITATION 5.1 Scopes * This system has many future applications like it can be used in any other schools. * This system can perform printing. * This system can secure data. * This system can lessen the time that will be consuming in the manual system.
