Domestic Violence

...occurs is power and control by the aggressor. Coercion is when the victim feels threatened, intimidated and able to be manipulated. Often when they feel like this they feel like they are not emotionally capable of leaving the relationship. The victim feels afraid because they know the aggressor is capable of harming them. Along with coercion comes threat. They both work with each other, for instance it is a way of feeling put down by another person. For example in a relationship a victim may have been assaulted various times that they begin to believe it is okay after a point in time. They do not do anything about it because they think there is no way out and the aggressor is stronger mentally making them believe what they want them to think of them. There are more male aggressors in domestic violence cases. Male privilege is very common specially to women who come from different countries. Male privilege is when a man feels superior to female and believes they have full control and authority over women, their money, children, rules and anything that has to do with situations. What men do not understand is that makes male privilege a problem is the way having intercourse occurs. In a marriage a man feels it is still okay to force their partner to have sex, and it is not. That is legally still rape, no means no. Another situation common to male privilege would be men who are stuck to old customs of dominating women and still believe in physical abuse if they dont not...

Gossips in Our Society

...Did you know that you carry a lethal weapon with you wherever you go? And it would be impossible for anyone to make you check it at the door, because it is attached to your body. I read somewhere that death and life are in the power of the tongue...what an amazing statement! and further...the tongue is full of deadly poison. Hum, frightening. Gossip is like a fired bullet, once you hear the sound, you can't take it back. Evil speech can destroy friendships, break up marriages and ruin businesses. Gossip-negative talk, put-downs, rumors, accusations, not only hurt the person being talked about, it also hurts the person speaking and the person listening. The truth is, gossip has been around since the beginning of humankind and continues to be a popular but destructive past time. "Le congossa" is unfortunately one of our favourite activities back home. Women and now more and more men are making it their hobbies. Too many people believe it’s their job to stick their nose in your business. Like they live such perfect lives. The reasons behind nosiness and gossiping has so much to do with folks not feeling their lives are interesting enough or are so unhappy with their lives, they believe getting into other people’s business is more exciting than getting things straight in their own lives. The story of what happened to a family in a small North London community illustrates this truth. The mother had not been well since the birth of her second baby, but everyone knew she...

Econ

...As the president of a country it is important to address certain issues within a country, in this instance it will be crucial to identify the main socio-economic challenges the country faces. Peoples priorities is the first factor we will have to look at. If for instance the water demand is greater than the supply, then there would certainly be a problem. As farmers and people from rural areas, who are dependant on water supply for life and irrigation purposes, would have to look for another solution. Such as rainwater or alternative sources to get access to water. People should participate in the development projects which are aimed to help them, otherwise the projects will be completed, but they will be unsuccessful as the pleas of the people wouldn’t have been answered as to what they need. The people need to be consulted while the project is being planned, as to determine their needs and assess whether its possible to provide what they want. Widespread adoptions of the same system would be a step in the right direction for the successful implementation of the new project. For instance if you encourage the people to all start using the same harvesting technique and equipment through campaigns and tutorials showing the use and maintenance thereof, then its more likely that they will follow suit. The big problem with this is the difference in areas. By assuming a system will work in all areas because it works well in one, is a blueprint for failure. Different cultures...

This much needed skills include, building trust, communicating verbally and non-verbally, listening better and dealing with conflict in the work place. One of the keys to succesful communication is trust. Being succesful largely depends on gaining trust from other people. If you dont have trust of other people, they cant count on you. Therefore, it is good to build trust, if you feel you haven’t built trust among people, there are ways you can gain trust. One of them is being supportive when someone is in need of support, it wil gain you trust if support is honest. Also, displaying concern for others is another good way to gain trust, it shows that you care and people will always have that back in their mind whenever they think of you or encouter you unless that is broken. Another way is recognition for initiative, appreciate what people do for you or for others, show that you appreciate them for that. ...Eye on Asia Can soaring population give India an edge over China? Posted by: Bruce Einhorn on September 19, 2006 India’s population is exploding and is likely to surpass China as the world’s biggest within a few decades. In a country where more than 25% of the people live in poverty, is that a good thing? One of the top executives at India’s premier pharma company seems to think so. Last week Brian Tempest, the former CEO and current “chief mentor” at Ranbaxy Laboratories, told an industry gathering that the growth of India’s below-25 population “is going to act as a secret weapon in the future,” according to this report in the Hindu. Tempest went on to take a jab at China, saying that slower Chinese population growth would put the Middle Kingdom at a disadvantage. Says Tempest, “the one-child policy in China will play a spoilsport.” The logic is simple. Fast population growth equals more young people, and more young people equals a more dynamic work force. According to the Indian Express, citing India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment, India already has an advantage over more advanced economies. The median age in India in 2000 was 24, compared to 30 in China, 38 in Europe and 41 in creaky old Japan. However, most of those Indians live in the countryside, and it’s no secret that India’s rural population is not sharing in the boom enjoyed by people in other parts of the country. In the past, Asiatech blog readers have written in to debate the merits of India’s development...

Leadership is the source of inspiration and it shows the action and way of acts to do. Leadership is considered as a product of complex social relationships (Dachler 1988). Current theoretical approaches on leadership research is concern about a greater extent role of leadership research which describe and give some understanding and recommends for effective leader behaviour and normative models. They focus more on explanations of leadership processes, describing leader behaviours, and present why behaviours occur in certain situations. If there are behavioural recommendations are available it means this is usually done more carefully and rarely without any philosophy that anything is possible. Current leadership theories are accepting the limits which have leader influence. "The best leaders are those most interested in surrounding themselves with assistants and associates smarter than they are. They are frank in admitting this and are willing to pay for such talents."(Amos Parrish). Leader is a "person who rules or guides or inspires others"(Andrew, 2007). Hallington Case Study

...Connor Ferguson Admin 351 Jo-anne Goodpipe January 29, 2016 Full Case Analysis of Hallington Utilities Services Company Case Analysis: Case overview 1. Summary of the situation Hallington Utilities Services is first introduced as a utility that distributes electrical power to customers in the municipality of Hallington. In the mid-1990s, the Ontario government decided it should move to deregulate the electrical power market because residents and businesses in Ontario were drastically overpaying for services and were considered the third-highest electricity generation rates in Canada, with no choice of suppliers. HUS was reorganized. It now responded to a Board of Directors. This Board adopted the vision: Excellence in customer service with competitive electricity rates and knowledge of power that is 1st class, which meant focus, was now going to be mainly on providing second to none customer service in attempt to please the public. After this shift there became the growing concern that HUS would face major restructuring and reorientation challenges Hallington employees were beginning to be concerned about their future within the organization. With this growing uncertainty, employee’s morale can be greatly affected. Empowerment of Futuren Women

...The Empowerment of the Future of Women “Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult”, Charlotte Whitton (The Soul Sisters). Hilary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and Oprah Winfrey are just a few names who have taken women leadership to the next level. But why does progress still seem to be a struggle for other women? Men seem to be dominating the political world in the U.S., and females seem to be striving to be the next powerhouses, but their professional image seems to be standing in the way of their future. Although women have made significant progress in obtaining low level leadership positions, their professional image continues to prevent them from receiving these same positions in higher forms. Political standards for future female candidates have become increasingly difficult to fulfill. The claim made for women not obtaining these higher level positions is simply because women are “less hierarchical, more cooperative and collaborative, and more oriented increasing other’s self-worth” (Eagly, pg. 2). Candidates for the job must be “likeable and tough” (Braude), which is seemingly become more and more difficult for female leaders these days when men are strong participants with these characteristics. When one wants to put a female and a male in a rink together, who would come out on top? The obvious choice would be the male, but it is not time to give a female the chance? The opportunity for women leaders...
