Dragon Image Summary

The article by Robert Bagley concerns the topic of the ancient Chinese art and the transformations that it has encountered in the flow of the centuries. One of the central ideas expressed by the author is that the modern popular Chinese art form as we know it, with an essential symbolic of dragon image, is the result of the combination of the initially Chinese art tradition with the Near Eastern motives. This article proves that the idea of picturing the dragons derives from the distant past when the images were completely unlike the ones that people are accustomed to nowadays but that also was a creative basis for the motives that are being developed in the modern art.
The author of the article pays attention to the fact that the initial depiction of creatures on the Chinese bronze was a result of a different imaginary process and different relation to the real world animals. Nevertheless, according to the author, it was the Near Eastern influence that has actually contributed to the inclusion of some plant patterns in the art and the transformation of the initially two-dimensional ornament into the three-dimensional animal-like pieces of art. According to the article, the first images of what we now identify as dragon were created already in the Bronze Age. Still, those were the …show more content…
The tension and the power of drawing attention was something taken from the ancient time. It was supported by the creation of the three-dimensional vessels with the heads of unknown creatures by the Erligang artists and later used in combination of the native tradition and the art of the steppes where the dragons were already embodied and interacted with one another. This evocation of the living animals that are moving in the real space has become the quintessence of the modern Chinese

A New Airline in the Making

...Table of ContentsTable of Contents Executive Summary 2 Introduction 3 Interim Department Reports 4 Effect on Customer Base 5 Customer Service 5 Image 6 Marketing and Promotion 6 Conclusion 6 Appendix 1 Memorandum Appendix 2 Survey EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Qantas Airlines – Crisis in the Making Since the year 2000, Virgin Blue has stormed into the Australian domestic airline scene with great success, quickly capturing 25% of the market with their low cost pricing strategy. As CEO of Qantas you are worried. Your internal analysts are predicting that Virgin Blue's market share will likely grow to reach on third of the market by next years, if left unchecked. Part of Virgin Blue's success lies in its clever balance of cheap airfares while still retaining profitability. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible for Qantas to compete with Virgin Blue on cost since most of your employees and major capital investments are already locked into long term contracts. Qantas has also built up a reputation over the years for offering exceptional service. If you are to reduce prices, you will not be able to maintain the level of service you currently provide. The situation is also not helped by the fact Singapore Airlines, the premier airline in the South East Asian region, has entered the low cost provider business with a new venture called Tiger Airways. Although starting out small, Tiger also has the potential to cut into the low end of the Qantas customer base. The challenge...

...CHAPTER I EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Dragon Noodles Restaurant came from Japan. The owner of the restaurant is Mr. Akihiro Agatsuma, a Japanese national. Mr. Akihiro wanted to share the culture of Japan by establishing a restaurant here in the Philippines. Dragon Noodles have four branches here in Pampanga. The main branch is located here in Angeles City and the other branches are in Subic, City of San Fernando and Seaside Clark. They have started their operations last 2010. The researchers have decided that there is a need to suggest strategies that will promote the existence of Dragon Noodles. Distribution of flyers and posters is considered the initial step in promoting Dragon Noodles to the people. Tarpaulins or other print advertisements must be place in peculiar locations to catch attention. During off peak hours, discounts on some food will be implemented to create demand. This will include customers with the modest budget including the students. Upon the implementation of the proposed strategies, the restaurant can expect for more customers to come and an improved service can contribute in creating loyal customers. This is what the researchers want to create because loyal customers are effective medium to market and promote the restaurants. Through word of mouth, satisfied customers speak a good experience and this is an inexpensive form of marketing strategies. CHAPTER II CORPORATE CONNECTION This chapter will state who are...

...****Analyzing Jealousy In Othello English Literature Essay**** Shakespeare’s play of Othello is largely driven by a grand love story, and filled with jealousy. Through the juxtaposition of Othello’s credulous nature and Iago’s pernicious villainy, the image of jealousy is truly personified as an all-consuming “green-eyed monster”. Because of this venomous nature of the beast of jealousy, the events of the play manage to unfold in Iago’s lustful authority, which bring down the eponymous character to his tragic downfall. In human psychology today, the modern definition of jealousy remains relatively unchanged from Shakespeare’s time, albeit being expressed in more modern scientific terms. It is defined as “a complex of thoughts, feelings, and actions which follow threats to self-esteem and/or threats to the existence or quality of the relationship ... generated by the perception of a real or potential attraction between one's partner and a (perhaps imaginary) rival." (White, 1981, p. 24). In scenes of jealousy, there are typically a triad of people involved: a jealous and threatened individual, a partner of the opposite gender, and his/her third party rival. In the case of Othello, there are certainly three important people involved at the beginning: Iago being the jealous individual, Desdemona being the partner, and Othello being the third party rival. Iago definitely feels threatened by Othello’s dominance over him, both in his military rank and his relationship...

This is echoed in the Draconian magical formula: Visio, Vires, Actio: Vision, Force, Action. Practising magic, however, is an art that demands dedication, patience and discipline. A process of ennobling is demanded to develop the magical abilities, a path of initiation, an alchemy in which vision and action are united into a whole. Summary of English Literature Before 1066

...Northern Caribbean University School of Religion and Theology SUMMARY AND ELEMENTS OF CHRISTIANITY AND PAGANISM IN THE LITERATURE OF GREAT BRITAIN BEFORE THE NORMAN CONQUEST An Assignment Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Course, ENGL 245: Survey of English Lit. I by Lascelles James October 2007 Even though archeology reveals a lot about the Neolithic and Iron-Age era in Britain, Literature tells more about the life and culture in the region, especially after the coming of Germanic Indo-Europeans from the continent in A.D 449, as reported in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. England, then a province of the Roman Empire, was named Britannia after its Celtic-speaking inhabitants, the Britons. The Britons were actually Romanized Celts. They left their greatest linguistic legacy in place names, such as Avon, Dover, Thames, and probably London. [1] The Anglo-Saxon invaders brought with them their own tradition of oral poetry, but there is no evidence of literacy before their conversion to Christianity. There is only circumstantial evidence of what the poetry must have been like. Aside from a few short inscriptions on small artifacts, the earliest records in the English language are in manuscripts produced at monasteries and other religious establishments, beginning in the seventh century. Literacy was mainly restricted to servants of the church, and the bulk of Old English literature is religious with Latin origins. ...
