...Al-Adah Muhakkamah Definition Al-Adah Muhakkamah is the fifth maxim according to the sequences of the five main maxims. The basic meaning of it is "custom is a basic of judgment". The meaning of custom basically coming from the word "adah". It is also come from the word "urf" which brought up with the meaning with "adah". However there is slightly difference between word "adah" and "urf". "Adah" is referring toward only one person while "urf" referring toward a group of peoples. The definition of "adah" in the language term is something that repeatable or in other term habit. "Adah" can be referred as some actions or words that repeatedly be doing by human and that action is acceptable by human mind and nature. If the actions or words that had been used by a person toward a certain motive and repeat the actions it will be considered as "adah" or habit. If that actions is follows by others and widespred used among peoples it will considered as "urf". In the context of the maxim, custom and habit considered as the important thing in the part of human life. Makkah was considered the religious capital of the entire Arabian Peninsula much before the arrival of Islam and Kaaba had been the centre of pilgrimage for all Arabian tribes. It was a sacred territory respected by friends and foes alike. Even the Pagans who used to worship idols, called Kaaba, the House of Allah. The Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is a journey to Kaaba to perform certain prescribed rites under Allah‟s command. It is obligatory once in life time for those Muslims who can afford financially and are capable physically to conduct the rites. Apart from a religious rite the Hajj is a trade fare and a political gathering as well. During Hajj people of different places get to know each other and their difficulties. It is a foundation of social culture and provides opportunity for collective struggle. Any assembly of Muslims including congregational prayer and Hajj provides us an opportunity to meet our brothers of all races and regions in faith. In Hajj a community practically becomes a family. It makes us to learn cooperation, brotherhood, equality and love regardless of our social status, colour and nationality. "Whoever sets out for Hajj, Umrah...

Armitage Robinson, D.D, Fellow of the British Academy Dean of Wells 1921 London: Published for the British Academy By Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press Amen Corner, E.C. PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS BY FREDERICK HALI, 76$ J 9 2/ PREFACE The writer of these pages makes no claim to be a historian, but he is concerned with the materials which go to the construction of true history. Occasionally he is led to revise the verdicts of historians on the ground of a renewed investigation of some isolated problem, or in the light of fuller information which has but lately become available. He hopes that he has done this with sufficient modesty. As a rule he has avoided direct controversy and has preferred a positive presentation of the revised position. He is well aware that when offered thus silently the corrections he desires to make are less likely to attract immediate attention than if he directly challenged fallacies which shelter under honoured names. But he writes from mere love of the subjects to which he has been drawn by the circumstances of his position and by local patriotism ; and he has experienced more than once the temporary blindness pro- duced by the dust of conflict. On the other hand he asks for criticism, ...
