EMTALA better or otherwise known as the “anti-dumping law” was established in 1985 prohibiting hospitals from transferring patients that are in an emergency situation to other facilities for lack of healthcare coverage.
To comply with EMTALA and prevent penalty of noncompliance and loss of licensure I would implement a program that gives assistance with medical treatment from organizations such as the Water Front Mission, Fishes and Loaves and pharmaceutical vendors that bring samples to the doctor’s offices. These organizations would provide clothing, and medication to individuals who are below federal income guidelines that that cannot afford medical services due to being below the federal poverty line and the homeless.
