Education Options for High School Level Students The learning process differs dramatically for many teenage students. Students are faced with new responsibilities and an adjustment phase coming out of middle school. There is a new workload placed on high school students. Some teenagers are more than able to keep up with the academics in high school and have a need to be more challenged. While other students fall behind and may need extra help. There are many types of education options for all types of students. Private schools may deem an option for a student who wants to achieve higher level of education than that of a public school. While a continuation school may be needed for that high school student who may not graduate in time. There are also options for students who may have broken the law and need a more structured environment to learn in. Education options for high school level students are very important and each play a role in creating a different learning environment tailored to a specific student. Private schools supply a unique learning environment that may benefit a student in many ways, but there are some requirements that must be met first. A private school requires a tuition cost be paid in order for the student to attend. Students are also some times required to test into the school. These tests are given to assess the students academic ability and to make sure he or she is able to keep up with the in depth curriculum. Parents and students may have many reason to attend a private school, as said by Albert Shanker “students in…private schools are more likely to be on an academic track than public school students”. (Shanker 14) The idea is backed up with the facts that most private schools have a lower student to teacher ratio, which means the students have more focused attention from the teacher. Another advantage to a private school
