Mount Zion, Washington, located just north of Rock Island, where the rain was soft, the fog was thick, and, if you were lucky enough to live near one of its many orchards, the air was rich with the perfume of apple blossoms. Known as the ((Liminal Capitol)) of the Pacific Northwest, Mount Zion earned itself a reputation ((spooky made up legend maybe something that happened bc of cult activity that we dont know about yet)) and is, unfortunately, where our story takes place. “I want to give you some information and explain myself before this gets ugly, detective,” Edward spoke into the phone, echoed by the chattering of cicadas. Even in the city it was no secret that I'd retired from the force and took up less than dignifying work. Whoever was at the other side of my door must have been from out of county or couldn't read the words painted on the glass window. The door cracked slightly, “Should I have made an appointment?” He was 5'4, half French, half Indian, and all leg. A handsome man in his late twenties, he was well dressed with a clean shaven face. He looked more or less like my other clients, however, his slender, athletic frame stood with fantastic posture and an air of eccentricity. A full smile dimpled his cheeks when he swiped a curly brown lock of hair from his bright eyes. I sat up quickly, putting too much weight on my leg and knocking over my glass. After three years, the pain in my leg had turned to a constant dull like the sun eclipsed by the moon, the blinding agony was always there but the intensity was smothered with alcohol.
