Director
* Responsible for assembling all production elements (visual, aural, alpha-numeric, open, close) and efforts (staff & crew) into an aesthetically pleasing, seamless whole * Responsible for proper time management and program time accuracy * Responsible for conducting rehearsals and taping * Responsible for giving timely and concise cues and ready cues to crew and talents * Adheres to the cutting-on-dialogue production strategy * Strives for shot diversity and consistency * Controls camera framing, composition and shot movement * Controls microphone and music levels
Associate Director (AD) * Supervises program time keeping * Counts program in and out and gives appropriate time cues during rehearsal and taping sessions * Gives ready cues when/where appropriate in coordination with director * Previews alpha-numeric key-ins
Technical Director (TD) * Operates SEG in response to commands received from Director * Assures SEG transitional quality control during production * Keys in titles and lower-thirds * Takes Color Bars during roll-to-record sequence
Audio Engineer * Monitors and controls proper sound levels using ears (CR monitor) and eyes (VU meter) in response to commands received from Director * Places microphones on talents * Matches talents microphone levels and EQ * Strikes microphones after last production slot
Electronic Graphics Operator * Triggers opening roll-in * Previews titles, credits and lower thirds
Teleprompter Operator * Displays open and closing teleprompter reads * Follows and adjusts teleprompter display to match host’s reading speed
Host
* Dresses appropriately (eschewing black, white, tight stripe clothing and hats) * Keeps conversation flowing and “real.” * Reads opening and closing teleprompter segments
Guest
* Dresses appropriately (eschewing black, white, tight stripe clothing and hats) * Keeps conversation flowing and “real.” * Avoids giving short, curt responses to host questions
Stage Manager (Floor Manager) * Functions as director’s eyes, ears and voice on the studio floor * Counts into rehearsals and taping sessions in tandem with associate director * Gives appropriate time cues during production * Throws hand cues/signals to talent * Supervises studio floor * Supervise setup and strike
Camera 1 * Gets appropriate well-framed and composed shots of host * Keeps “Goldilock” head room and talk space
Camera 2 * Zooms in when cued during open, zooms out when cued during close * Keeps well framed “safety” cover shot
Camera 3 * Gets appropriate well-framed and composed shots of guest * Keeps “Goldilocks” head room and talk space
Production Assistant (PA) * Assists production staff and floor manager * Fills in for missing team members
