...acts, and the use of technology in exchanging ideas and providing access to more people. After referencing five articles on Online Education/Distance Learning, Being able to earn a degree at a college, out-of-state or abroad, allows many people the opportunity they never had, or was just not able to afford too. From my experience on taking online classes while in the military, I have been able to take them while deployed overseas in support for our country. I will provide in this essay evidence that distance learning is an invaluable tool, and it has a big impact on today’s education. Three out of the five articles I referenced had three similar subjects: convenience and flexibility, student enrichment, and cost-effectiveness. Taking a closer look into the convenience and flexibility of an online education, I find that all three articles speak on the flexibility to create one’s own schedule. With online training, there are no class schedules to adhere to. Online training gives people who work the flexibility to schedule their own learning time (Howard 2013). Courseware can be accessible for students when they need it. Students can review lectures, discussions, explanations, and comments (WorldWideLearn.com). Students may be able to choose from a wider range of degree programs. Some online colleges develop and offer degree programs that might not yet be available through nearby public or private institutions (WorldWideLearn.com). Student enrichment plays a big role in why students...

Review of financial statement: A type of attestation service performed by public accountants. Many entities want to provide assurance on their financial statement, without incurring the cost of an audit. c. Other attestation services Such as a natural extension of audit of historical financial statement, as users seek independent assurance about other types of information. For example: banks often require debtors to engage public accountants to provide assurance about the debtor’s compliance with certain financial covenant provision stated in the loan agreement. 2. Other assurance services, They are similar to attestation services in that public accountant must be independent and must provide assurance about information used by decision maker, but differ in that the public...

...carry the mental health disorders with them as adults, which will affect their socioeconomic status as well. The emergency rooms are also swamped many times with patients who come for mental health emergencies such as suicide attempts or psychotic episodes. “Emergency department visits for mental health issues increased from 4.4% of all visits in 2001 to 7.2% in 2011. Counts increased 55,000 visits per year and rates increased from 13.6 visits/1000 population in 2001 to 25.3 visits/1000 in 2011 (p<0.01 for all trends)” (Simon and Schoendorf, 2014). When the education system works with the mental health profession to screen and provide mental health promotion classes these emergencies can be decreased. Conceptual Framework Donabedian’s structure-process-outcome model is the conceptual framework used in this literature review. The three parts of this framework involve the structure, which is the factors, characteristics, or population that is involved with the research. The process is the interventions or plans that are introduced to influence the outcome. The outcome part of the model is the positive, neutral, or negative changes from the process. Donabedian used this framework to evaluate the research of quality assessment in healthcare standards (Ayanian and Markel, 2016). Donabedian in his framework “called for a broader approach to quality measurement that extended beyond the technical management of illness to incorporate assessments of prevention, rehabilitation, coordination...

...The Effectiveness of Business Ethics in Education and Today’s Workplace October 13th, 2012 Introduction What do Bernard Madoff, Kenneth Lay and Rob Blagojevich all have in common? They all operated with no apparent ethical behavior even though each had received educational backgrounds in which ethical business practices were taught. As L. Zingales states, “While every firm can have its bad apples, when these apples are at the top, it suggests that a company has either a corrupt culture or a defective selection process, or both.” (Zingales, Jul 16, 2012). In Madoffs case, the Ponzi scheme had been going on since the early 1990’s (Morrissey, Aug 11, 2009). Under the direction of Kenneth Lay, Enron- once one of the largest companies in America- collapsed in bankruptcy and ruined the lives of thousands of people (McLean & Elkind, May 18, 2006). The Chicago Tribune reported that the Illinois House of Representatives was sending to the Illinois Senate a “13 point article of impeachment-a political form of indictment-alleging Blagojevich has abused the power if his office” (Pearson & Long, Jan 9, 2009). The purpose of this paper is to gauge the Effectiveness of Business Ethics in Education and Today’s Workplace. As business students they graduate from the university setting and enter the business environment they study the ethics in their workplace culture and often find that educational ethics training does not have any value in the work world. “Studies...

...Holistic Health and Wellbeing Describe what your role, responsibilities and boundaries would be as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle Role, responsibilities and boundaries are evolving qualities within the teacher which are assessed and reflected upon using the teaching/training cycle; a cycle of assessment, planning and review. The main role of the teacher is to facilitate communication in such a way that all students are encouraged to enter into a wider debate surrounding the topic they have chosen. To ensure sessions’ aims and objectives are meaningful and applicable to students the teaching role incorporates ongoing administration and assessment. Assessing varying learning styles within a group and considering learner’s motivations and previous experiences helps identify various teaching methods that could be useful throughout the program. Sessions incorporating visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles ensures students have equal rights to learning and provide the opportunity to re-evaluate what is already known while exploring aims and objectives from a different perspective. I teach holistic health and wellbeing classes where motivations and previous experience constantly change as better health is experienced. My role is to create a safe learning environment to establish open and trusting relationships. Recording changes by completing relevant admin ensures records are up to date in order to evaluate changes to forthcoming aims and objectives. The main...

...Effectiveness of the Social Studies Solutions at Harnett Central High School Jerry L. Sarchet, Jr. Education 622: Research April 24, 2007 Abstract Overwhelming evidence in numerous studies demonstrated the value of student performance linked with their ability to take and review notes. Teachers have sought the best way to provide notes for student. In 2006, Harnett County Schools adopted an alternative approach to note taking and instructional delivery called the Social Studies Solutions. It was found that the Social Studies Solutions enhanced the Civics and Economics End of Course Test results by implanting the new instructional delivery and method of note taking for students. Introduction In the game of high stakes testing in the classroom, teachers are judged on their ability to help students pass standardized tests. Teacher autonomy on material taught has slowly dwindled away in North Carolina with the Standard Course of Study. Teachers must teach their subject within guidelines set by the state. Additionally, teacher discretion on a child’s knowledge is reduced with the standardized tests that decide if a child has received a “sound, basic education (Brief History of the Leandro Case, 2007).” Standardized tests have become essential to insure all children learn the same material in accordance with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Additionally, schools are evaluated upon their ability to help students pass said exams. Their performances on...

...Self-Reflection Week 1 This week I have learned a lot about organizational behavior, organizational effectiveness, and high performance work practices. I have learned what organizational behavior is, and why it is important. It was interesting to compare the company I currently work for to these theories and how they are following these practices. Organizational behavior is described by our text as “the study of what people think, feel, and do in and around organizations” (McShane & Von Glinow, 2010). People study OB for at least 4 reasons. First, it satisfies the need to understand and predict. Second, it helps to test personal theories. Third, it helps to influence behavior and get things done. Fourth, it helps improve an organizations financial health. I learned about the four perspectives of organizational effectiveness. I compared the High Performance Work Practices (HPWPs) from the text to Speedway, which is also the company I currently work for. The HPWP perspective states that effective organizations leverage the human capital potential of their employees. Specific practices have been identified as: employee involvement and job autonomy, employee competence, and performance-based rewards. Speedway regularly involves their employees in projects and activities. They ask employees to complete surveys to provide opinions and input. Speedway also tries to provide job autonomy. Each employee has an opportunity for advancement. There are training guides provided to our...
