The Elizabethan theater was a very popular form of entertainment starting in 1576 to the 1600's in the outskirts of London. All types of people came to see the shows including upper class nobility to the lower class commoners. There were many theaters that popped up over time, but the entertainment was the same all around. What do you know about the Elizabethan theaters?. You will get to know about the design of the theaters, the entertainments and entertainers and the monthly festivals that took place in the theaters, the timeline, playwrights and their plays and also facts about the Elizabethan theater. The landscape of the theater includes prices, the design and the accommodations. Theaters were mainly made out of flint (stone) and took …show more content…
They had days like Michaelmas Day, Loaf Mass and King Crispin day. Festivals and special events for each month where a big part of the Elizabethan era. Starting in January there was a Twelfth Night Festival and feast celebrating the wise men and the birth of Jesus. In February they would have St Valentines day and this festival included dancing, singing and pairing games. In March they would have re-enactments of Jesus's Crucifixion and Resurrection. In April jesters and lords caused mayhem with jokes and jest on All Fools Day. In May celebrating May Day a queen of the May was chosen. In June on midsummer's eve masked dancers would entertainment at the "Festival of Fire" acting out great legends and bones were often burned. In July they'd have within day on June 15th. In August they had "Loaf Mass" celebrating the 1st harvest of the year. September 29th was Michaelmas day and this was the celebrating the life of St Michael and they would eat the traditional food goose or chicken. On October 25th St Crispins day was celebrated with bonfires and people acting like 'King Crispin'. Day of the dead was in November celebrating the dead and in December Christmas was celebrated.

Beginning in seventh or eighth grade, students are fed a steady diet of his tragedies, comedies, histories, and sometimes even the sonnets. Before Michael, Madonna or Prince, he was the one-name artist everyone could relate to globally. This wasn’t always the case. The branding of the name is not accidental. Even more than “William Shakespeare play-wright to American school students” the word Shakespeare, has become a trademark representing the culture and values of a nation. I approached this project with the firm belief that teaching Shakespeare to non-white students was harmful to their development. Shakespeare being taught to non-white students is a problem because they are being told that their culture isn’t enough. Is this a message we want to send after the last 40 years of minority groups demanding, and receiving, inclusion into society? Aren’t there any other works that could be substituted for the works of Shakespeare’s? Plenty of good candidates are published every year but they aren’t taken seriously. Why not?
