Abstract
American Government has been impacted by process philosophy is many different ways. One way is the political party’s platforms are ran to this day. The Democratic Party’s platform have been impacted by the process philosophy of Fabian Socialism. This is also known as Democratic Socialism. The Fabian Socialism creation was credited to British economists Sidney and Beatrice Webb, in 1883.
According to Ferdon, Fabian Socialism is similar to Marxism and almost every point. The only different is their change in violent tactics. Fabian Socialism promatoe “a more peacefull, gradual, and incremental approach to encomic change through voting, legislation, the courts, and the public education system, as well as organized industrial labor”. (Ferdon 2014) Fabian Sociamlisms was introduced into the United states first is 1886. This is when the American Federation of labor was created. In 1905 the intercollegiate socialist society was formed. This is only a few ways Fabian Socialism was promoted in the United States. This all goes with the Fabian Socialism views on, labor, education, voting, and the courts. The current Democratic Party platform has been impacted by the process philosophy of Fabian Socialism. The Platform has views that are the same views of the Fabian Socialists. If you look at the views on economic change through voting, legislation, the courts, and the public education system, you will better understand how they are similar.
The current Democratic Party platform is the based solely on the Fabian Socialism philosophy. I will explain this by starting with voting. The Fabian Socialists wanted encomic change through voting. This is also the case with the current Democratic Party. This Party has strong views on changing voting laws and making it easier for people to vote. “We believe the right to vote and to have your vote counted is an essential American freedom, and we oppose laws that place unnecessary restrictions on those seeking to exercise that freedom. Democrats have a proud history of standing up for the right to vote. During the Obama administration, the Justice Department has initiated careful, thorough, and independent reviews of proposed voting changes, and it has prevented states from implementing voter identification laws that would be harmful to minority voters”. (Democratic Party Platform 2012)
The Democratic party also views education as was strong point as well as the Fabian Socialists. The currerynt Decomocrtaic party states that eduction in children is the key to Americans suucess. “That begins by restoring the basic values that made our country great, and restoring for everyone who works hard and plays by the rules the opportunity to find a job that pays the bills, turn an idea into a profitable business, care for your family, afford a home you call your own and health care you can count on, retire with dignity and respect, and, most of all, give your children the kind of education that allows them to dream even bigger and go even further than you ever imagined” . ...Sights, smells and view from the front porch of my parent’s home in Southwestern New Mexico is a memorable place. To this day I will smell the smoke from a chimney or fresh baked cookies and it takes me back home. The heat of summer gives you the feeling after baking something when you put your face in front of the oven as you open the door. That blast of hot, dry air sucking all the moisture from your lungs. It has always made me chuckle when I hear people say, “But it is a dry heat”. The summer time also brings the monsoon season toward July and August. Watching the clouds cross the sky like big balls of cotton, you can make out different shapes if you look at them with the open mind of childhood. As the day wares on they begin collecting, growing into to a huge darkening mass. With the inevitable rain creatures from the hairy tarantula scurrying across the roads, to the local rancher’s cattle chewing her cud, all have a sense of the storm and begin looking for shelter. When the rains does come it is fast and furious, many of the creeks filled with fast moving water, carrying whatever debris along with it. Fall is always a latecomer to my corner of New Mexico, but when it does arrive, it comes in with all colors a-blaze. Brown, reds, yellows, russets, and burgundies vie with each other for places of honor in forest and field. A small orchard of apricot and apple trees my parents have always seems to be ablaze like a formation of match sticks. The mornings are crisp;...

...Palak Patel Mrs. Roman Eng102 Date: 03/16/2012 Divorce in America In the 21st century, so many Americans are struggling with divorce. Studies show that approximately sixty percent of marriage in America ends in divorce, and this does not seem to be slow down (“Divorce”). Nowadays, divorce is more common as compared to the past. Furthermore, so many issues are related to divorce: couples do not want to compromise about their relationship, women are becoming more independent, and couples are getting married too young. According to Wilson, “couples who live together before marriage have higher divorce rates than those who do not, and less educated couples tend to divorce at higher rates than those with more education” (“Introduction to Divorce”). It is also possible that couples are getting married for the wrong reasons, and they are not putting enough effort into their relationship, and their marriages end in divorce. Children are struggling as well as their parents because when parents become divorced the children become divorced too. After parents get divorced, children face a lot of stress during their lives. In the 21st century, the divorce rate in the American family is increasing because married couples are refusing to compromise about their relationship which is posing a potential danger to children. The divorce rate continues to increase in America over last twenty five years. As a matter of facts, the divorce rate is higher in today’s society compared to the...

...1. Name your primary text. (Berger, Anzaldua, Porchia, Carson, Freire, Butler) Freire, “The Banking Concept of Education” 2. Free write about the following: Why have you chosen this essay to focus on? What list of issues are key to the essay you've chosen? Which issues seem most important to you? I want to explore the concepts of praxis and poesies in education. Freire claims that the Banking Concept of the education represses students from praxis. I want to explore in what sense because education even in the Banking method requires practice, at least even in becoming a better memorizer. If the students are engaging in praxis then is there any poesies happening? Are the teachers or the students really creating anything? Or, are they both just acting like inorganic entities following a series of protocols and memorizing algorithms? My next goal is to point to the Math Department at Brooklyn College and do an investigation on the curriculums of the different math courses. I’m currently in a Pre-Calculus class and “doing well” requires that the student memorizes hundreds of properties in a short period of time and apply them on examples. The problem with the examples is that they are alienated from reality. For example, if I propose to you that 1+ 1 = 2 without illustrating to you why this relationship is true and just ask you to memorize a table of different results such as 1+ 1 = 2, 2+ 2 = 4 and etc… are you really learning anything? My goal after that will...

...Sport Helmet Use in Soccer Soccer is one of the most played sports in the world. The history of modern soccer dates back to 1815, when the Cambridge Rules were established. The Cambridge Rules eliminated shin kicking and tripping but did nothing for protection of the head for players. Soccer players are competitive by nature, and are willing to go all out to win the game. With that said, how are rule makers making the game safe for young and older athletes? The debate for head protection is at the forefront of modern sports and soccer is at the top of the list. Athletes, such as soccer players, are at a high risk of head or brain injury and youth soccer leagues, high schools, colleges, and professional leagues alike must take a stand to protect their players. There have been multitudes of recent studies on head and brain injuries in sports and the results are troubling. Jenna McLaughlin states that, “Scientific studies have shown that rates of injury in soccer are comparable to football, ice hockey, lacrosse, and rugby.” When most think of head injuries in sports, soccer seems to slip the minds of those in the conversation. Soccer has a high risk of head injuries that come from player-to-player contact, player-to-ground contact, and player-to-goalpost contact (McLaughlin 1). When looking at the impact of collisions from player-to-player contact, all aspects and possibilities must be considered. Soccer players can collide heads when driving the ball down field...

Eng 102 Controversy Paper

...Hypocrites of America The episode of South Park called ‘Goobacks’ is a prime example of how some Americans are hypocrites. I say this because the situation in the episode is exaggerated in a creative sense, but the underlines of the episode speaks of reality in today’s world. In this episode, people from the future come back to the present. These men and women work the jobs most Americans will not work and work these jobs for a lot less money to begin with because they feel less money is still money to them. Of course the Americans became angered that the ‘Goobacks’ (what the Americans called them), took “their” jobs and did not quite understand English. The famous line from this episode, “Took yer jurb!” (Comedy Partners), in English means ‘Took our jobs’. This line is frequently said by Americans, because in reality some Americans feel it is true. There are a great deal of immigrants that come to America for a better life. For instance immigrants from Ireland, Mexico, Cuba, and so on. These immigrants take jobs that most Americans see as beneath them since they pay so low. But yet some Americans become angered and say that these immigrants are taking ‘their’ jobs, even though these jobs were not taken in the first place. That is why I feel those people are hypocrites because they say these jobs are theirs, but yet they do not work these jobs. But in essence, how can those jobs possibly be ‘their’ jobs to begin with. They do not own those jobs and they definitely do not...

Eng 102 Research Paper

...English 102-21949 Should the Government Regulate the Internet? Do we want the government censoring our stream of information? What about our rights to free speech or freedom of information? We would never think of censoring our television stations or allowing our phone lines to be tapped, so why would we want to allow the government to regulate the internet? When we use the internet, we expect to search for and receive results from a wide range of thoughts and ideas, where we go and who we listen to is our prerogative. Now with that power, comes the responsibility to understand that there will be extremes and to balance and weigh the credibility of the sources we are provided with. Freedom of speech and freedom of information are two ideals, no, rights that our country was founded upon. Regulation of the internet would infringe upon our first amendment rights and therefore cannot be considered. We live in a great democracy with many rights and freedoms that other citizens of the world don’t have. Internet regulation is the process of the government monitoring and filtering where we can go and what we can see on the internet. This is already happening in countries like China, who have been very outspoken about the United States push to encourage open web policies (Clinton). So who is pushing for legislation like this in the United States? Not surprisingly the two pieces of legislation that were proposed earlier this year, Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA)...

Eng/102 the Safety of Frankenfoods Final Draft

...The Safety of “Frankenfoods” Debora Petit ENG/102 June 24, 2014 Jason Greer The Safety of Frankenfoods In a world that will have an estimated population of approximately 9.6 billion people by the year 2050 (United Nations Department Of Economic And Social Affairs, 2013), growing enough food becomes a great concern. As the population grows, the amount of available farmland decreases. This phenomenon inspired companies, such as Monsanto and Novartis, to find a way to help farmers increase the yields from crops while also increasing their own profits. By genetically modifying food crops such as soy and corn, insect resistance and crop yield can be improved. However, studies conducted after government approval in the U.S. indicate that genetically modified (GM) foods can cause harmful side effects not only to humans but also to the environment. During the 1950’s, scientists found the basis for genetic modification when they discovered chemicals that “could cut and duplicate pieces of DNA” (Chapman, 2010, para. 2). Genetic modification occurs when the DNA from one species is inserted into the DNA of another species. For example, the gene that allows an Arctic fish not to freeze in sub-zero waters could be inserted into a tomato plant to make it frost resistant. Without the ability to cut pieces of DNA, these genes could not be transferred. The process evolved with the discovery of a germ that could transfer DNA into plants. Cells contain a natural defense mechanism that...
