English 1310 is a course that is focused on grammar and writing. While it is a demanding course, it is possible to succeed. However, there are many factors that could cause a student to do poorly in English 1310. The student’s success in this class depends on himself. Many forms of irresponsibility would most definitely cause a student to do poorly in English 1310, such as failing to keep up with assignments, pay attention to details, and plan appropriately.
A student may do poorly in English 1310 if he does not keep up with his assignments. Many professors give online work, such as quizzes and journal entries. While the quizzes are not heavily weighted, not taking them could be the difference between making an A and a B. The same goes for the journal entries. If a student does not keep up with his journal entries, it could cause him to do poorly. Most professors assign outside reading that is meant to be completed before coming to class. This reading is extremely beneficial, as it keeps students on track with what they are learning in class. Not doing this reading could also cause a student to do poorly in English 1310. …show more content…
Professors assign several papers in English 1310, and different professors have different requirements. A student must put page numbers on every page, and make sure that all of the text is double spaced. Aside from that, there are font and text size specifications. Not following these specifications may cause a student to do poorly. Failing to include a cover page and an outline is also detrimental to a student’s overall

Black Men and Prostate Cancer

...the Prostate Specific Antigen test (PSA) and the Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) in regards to surviving the disease. “Since using early detection tests for Prostate Cancer became relatively common in the United States (about 1990), the prostate cancer death rate has dropped” (ACS, 2014). However, there has been a contentious debate in recent years involving many organizations on the adequacy of these early detection measures (American Society of Clinical Oncology, 2013). Controversy stems from studies like the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) cancer screening trial. The early research from this study indicated there was no evidence of a mortality benefit in having an annual PSA screening done (Andriole, Crawford, Grubb, Buys, and Chia, 2009). After Extensive Consideration, the United States Preventative Task Force (2012) has recommended against having the PSA screening done. Research conducted by the taskforce has found that there is only a small benefit in having the test done in contrast to the much more significant potential harm. Much of this is directed at the physical and psychological side effects...

Traveling

...Travelling Along the Third Way. A Swedish Model of Stabilisation, Equity and Growth* Lennart Erixon ♣ (December, 2005) Department of Economics, Stockholm University, 106 91 Stockholm, Sweden _____________________________________________________________________ Abstract The Swedish economic policy to combine full employment and equity with price stability and economic growth was developed by two trade union economists shortly after World War II. Through the use of extensive employment policy measures, a tight fiscal policy and a wage policy of solidarity, the Rehn-Meidner model represents a unique third way between Keynesianism and monetarism. This essay analyses the application and performance of the Rehn-Meidner model in Sweden. Although never consistently applied, it is possible to distinguish a golden age for the model from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. In the 1970s and the 1980s, governments abandoned the restrictive macroeconomic means of the model and were thus unable to combine low rates of unemployment with low inflation and high economic growth. Since the early 1990s, Sweden has not met the requirement of full employment in the Rehn-Meidner model. Recent declarations by the EU to prioritise full employment once again but without giving up the objectives of price stability and growth legitimise a renewed interest in the model. __________________ JEL classification: E24; E31; E62; J23; J31; J62; O23 Keywords: Swedish model; Rehn-Meidner...

Nurse Educacion

...Chapter 51. Enhancing Patient Safety in Nursing Education Through Patient Simulation Carol Fowler Durham, Kathryn R. Alden Background The alarming rise in morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients throughout the United States heightens concerns about professional competency.1 Nurses and other health care professionals are under increased scrutiny to provide safe, effective care. Likewise, nursing education programs are faced with increased pressure to produce graduates who are capable of providing safe patient care. Toward that end, nursing education programs develop curricula, hire qualified faculty, and select learning experiences for students in an effort to train and graduate competent, effective nurses. The instructional strategies utilized in both didactic and clinical components of nursing education courses are highly influential in determining critical thinking and clinical decisionmaking ability as well as in developing the psychomotor skill performance of new graduates. Of course, it is unrealistic to think that graduates of nursing education programs have received all the training they need when they depart the doors of academia. Orientation programs for new graduates and continuing education for nurses are essential tools to help practitioners improve their knowledge, skills, and expertise so that quality patient care is provided and outcomes are optimized while errors are minimized. Ongoing evaluation of nursing competence is necessary...
