...Many women share a common goal in life, to become a wife and mother. Once a woman reaches this goal, what is next? How does she behave in such a role? Each of these women wants to obtain such a status, but who knows how to fulfill it? Numerous opinions dance about with only wives and mothers of the past as support for the presented arguments. A woman new to her position needs only to follow in the steps of a great role model to have the chance of also becoming a respected and loved spouse and caregiver. St. Augustine’s mother, Monica, described throughout Augustine’s Confessions and Rebekah, whose story is told in Genesis 25 and 27, share little in character or in their beliefs of marital bliss. Both give examples of how women choose to conduct themselves in marriage and motherhood. Two women, both wives and mothers, hardly compare in their virtues, their view of marriage, or their ideas of a woman’s responsibilities to her husband. A virtuous woman excels at her tasks without experiencing repercussions while a woman of little virtue hatches schemes that a price must be paid in order to succeed. Augustine continuously commends his mother on her virtues through his depiction of her. The story presented in Genesis shows little evidence of Rebekah possessing many admirable qualities. With Monica, lists have been made of all her virtues; some find it difficult to number Rebekah’s due to limited resources or rather their lack of existence. While Monica walks through...

...CHAPTER V Summary, Conclusions and Recommendations Summary and Conclusions The study attempts to determine the different factors that influence the decisions of 2nd year College of Business and Accountancy Students of the University of St. La Salle in choosing their major course. The study also seeks to identify the different benefits and descriptions of the courses offered in the said college. The research design used is descriptive because we tend to describe the facts in a factual way. There were 50 2nd year CBA students of University of St. La Salle who did partake in the study. The findings of the study revealed that the biggest factor that influences the decisions of our respondents is their family. According to our statistics, 30% of the 2nd year students answered that their families were the ones whom greatly influenced their decisions. We could say that those said respondents who said that their family is the one who influenced or chose the certain course they are going to take were really obedient students because they believe that their parent's knows what is the best for them. For some, they maybe forced to take up that certain course. The findings of the study revealed that a big chunk of the students population having 82% didn't want to be in the College of Business and Accountancy in the first place. Reasons for this kind of result may be caused of the unmaid minds of the students that they didn't know what college to enroll into when they entered...

When writing an email, you are quick, and short, straight to the point, how could I ever write a five-page typed paper. Work cited was also a very unfamiliar thing to me, but this was also explained during the MLA, and APA part of the...

...Ashleigh Falls Shaffer ENG 123-022 4 May 2011 Bullying in Schools Every morning, Lauren’s alarm starts buzzing at six o’clock. She dreads this moment because it means one thing to her: she has to get ready for school where she must face her bully. My sister Lauren has shared with me her many experiences at school where she has been victimized by this girl named Makayla. She steals her food, pulls her hair, and tries to turn Lauren’s friends against her. One incident was specifically disturbing for Lauren to deal with. They were both riding the bus home one afternoon when Makayla told Lauren to give her some of the cookies that she was eating. Lauren told her no, and as a result, Makayla started pulling her hair. The next day, Makayla went to the principal and told a huge lie that Lauren had been the one trying to steal her food, and that Lauren had pulled her hair. This put my little sister over the edge. She could not believe that Makayla would actually go to the school and tell a lie just to try and get her in trouble. The ironic thing about this situation is that Makayla is about half of Lauren’s size. She is still able to successfully bully her though because of Lauren’s very meek and reserved personality, making her an ideal victim for a bully. Bullies are not always bigger kids who just push the small kids down; emotional abuse is just as effective and detrimental to the victim. Lauren comes home crying almost every day because of the constant torment she deals with...

English 101 Research Paper

...I have had many on my friends ask me about my college classes over the last few months. The main class that they ask me about is English 101. There are many different tips and tricks on how to be successful in an English 101 class. Students should come to a college class with a different mindset than they would if they were in a high school class. To become a well-rounded and successful student in an English 101, students will have to bring a computer, participate in class, and not procrastinate throughout the semester. Students who are in an English 101 class should always bring a computer to class with them. Teachers don’t always tell the students when they should bring their laptop even though the class might use them. The computers are great in class when students are engaging in conversion about something they don’t know, because all they would have to do is Google whatever the topic is about and get information about it. Sometimes when students are posting their assignment on a school based website the attachment doesn’t get...

...Michael Poteet Poteet 1 Professor Lesser English 116 December 8, 2011 Comparisons and Dissimilarity of Love Octavio Paz, Franz Kafka, and Anton Chekhov, despite living in different eras and locations had similar sentience while going through many different experiences in life. This fact demonstrates the value of comparison but also the ability to contrast to understand life. Through “The Lady With the Dog”, “The Hunger Artist”, and “My Life With the Wave”, the reader is able to conclude: The stories while being decidedly different in diegesis’s also contain similarities in the symbolic contrivances used throughout all three stories Upon reading “The Lady with the Dog” by Chekhov the reader cannot help but sympathize with Anna and Dmitri. Sadly the timing of the relationship is unfortunate. The characters ultimately act in ignorance, because they do not find satisfaction in the relationships with their spouses so they choose to find it somewhere else. This is where are the pain the characters are feeling is coming from. Because sexual intimacy is so powerful and brings couples together into one “person” it causes so much pain for the couple because they have felt that feeling and cannot have it. They both meet their fate in love by finding their true match in one another, but very rarely do fate and timing coincide with one another, so they are forced to continually meet in secrecy through out the story. ...English 1310 is a course that is focused on grammar and writing. While it is a demanding course, it is possible to succeed. However, there are many factors that could cause a student to do poorly in English 1310. The student’s success in this class depends on himself. Many forms of irresponsibility would most definitely cause a student to do poorly in English 1310, such as failing to keep up with assignments, pay attention to details, and plan appropriately. A student may do poorly in English 1310 if he does not keep up with his assignments. Many professors give online work, such as quizzes and journal entries. While the quizzes are not heavily weighted, not taking them could be the difference between making an A and a B. The same goes for the journal entries. If a student does not keep up with his journal entries, it could cause him to do poorly. Most professors assign outside reading that is meant to be completed before coming to class. This reading is extremely beneficial, as it keeps students on track with what they are learning in class. Not doing this reading could also cause a student to do poorly in English 1310....

English Settlers In America Research Paper

...English settlers first traveled to America by ship, a process that would typically take anywhere between a few weeks to a few months, depending on weather conditions and other similar factors. Today, people can travel from one country to another in less than a day or two by plane. This is only possible due to the advancement of technology. People are always on the lookout for quicker and more efficient ways of completing tedious or difficult tasks, such as hand sewing clothing. With the invention of modern technology, in lieu of hand sewing multiple identical pieces of clothing, a specific design can be mass-produced, making hundreds, even thousands of identical pieces quickly. However, with speed, comes room for less efficiency. Mass produced...

English Research Paper on Animal Testing

...Animal Testing/Experimentation For many years, scientists have been testing new products such as shampoo, lotion, and cosmetics products on animals to test for safety. Testing these animals may involve harming the animals through excessive use of lethal chemicals which may lead to the deaths of these animals. Although animal testing may prove to be effective for proving whether a product is potentially dangerous or not, animal experimentation is an inhumane practice which is made unnecessary through the alternatives modern technology has created in replacement of animal testing. In the process of making new products, many animals undergo cruel tests for the benefits of commercial and human use. In the article “19,000 Animals Killed in Automotive Crash Tests,” “about 19,000 dogs, rabbits, pigs, ferrets, rats and mice have been killed during the last decade in automobile safety tests performed by the General Motors Corporation” (19,000 Animals Killed). This was the ironic and brutal treatment for animals in this highly technological automobile Corporation, even though there were advances of “computer models and dummies” (19,000 Animals Killed) that allowed the testers of the automobile to predict the outcomes of the injuries. Animals are also used to test cosmetics for irritation on skin. According to the article “Secret French move to block animal-testing ban,” Andrew Osborn states that “38,000 animals are used and killed in developing cosmetics in the EU every year”. The number...

English Research Paper Rough Draft

...Rupesh Gudipudi Mrs. Burns Honors English II 10 December 2013 Women Education in Pakistan The concept of education makes everybody want to feel denunciation for it. Many people would say that it seems like something that shouldn’t be mandatory and the world would be a better place without it. They would also say that school is very tedious and pointless. However, education is valued as a necessity in Pakistan. It is predominantly appreciated by females. Pakistanis believe that education has the potential to give a typical human being the intellect on how to overcome obstacles in life. Unfortunately, this cannot happen; it mainly can’t happen to females. Lack of education for women, primarily caused by social obligations and social beliefs, is having a global importance by making other countries seem more educated. Pakistan is eminent primarily for its history and governing system. It is a country located in Asia and is one of the fewest countries in the world that give more preference to males. They do this because it is believed that they are essential to the country. They do physical work, which helps build the foundation for a successful country. Males are also involved a lot in the military, which is what Pakistan gives a lot of preference to (“Women’s Education in Pakistan”). Pakistan has a noteworthy history. It was once a part of India. When the countries achieved independence in 1947, Pakistan split off from India due to religious conflict (“Pakistan”). Ever...
