There is no statistically significant difference between 60 students’ pre- and post- TOEIC Bridge test scores. The results indicated that four months of writing practice did not affect slow learners’ proficiency level.
As for Group A, there is no statistically significant difference among the students’ test scores.
In Group B, there is statistically significant difference among the students’ test scores, and the scores of post-test are higher than those of pre-test. Thus, students in Group B improved their English proficiency during one semester.

Some wrote more sentences than they wrote at the beginning. Their TOEIC Bridge scores also improved.

Some students understood their grammatical errors, and paid attention to English grammar while doing their journal writing.
Other students who did not look at teachers’ feedback repeated the same errors.
Students in Group A tried to write complicated sentences, and use difficult words. It caused the increase of the number of errors.
Students in Group B only wrote short sentences, and some of them always wrote the same sentences. That is why the number of errors in Group A was more than that in Group B.
Students who avoided using difficult and complex words or sentences wrote the simple and correct sentences, while those who tried to use these words or sentences made a lot of errors.

From the questionnaires, three concerns arose from the results of this study.
1. Some students could not write in their journals while at home, but they could do so in the classroom immediately before or during the class.
