Taking into consideration the previous meeting three schemes have been suggested so that the Grapefruit PLC would fix its relations with the locals and at the same time would increase the amount of the sales.
According to,the first scheme the company will donate £500,000 in order a new maternity unit to be open. This effort will increase the company’s reputation and its publicity, however, there would be no short term impact in the sales.
Also, according to the second scheme the company will pay to the Totnes Art Centre £100,000 for the next four years so that the theatre would make a tour of Spain. The company will open a factory in Spain so this scheme would increase the awareness of the brand. The negative points are that this scheme would not improve directly. There is also £20,000 p.a for four years tax savings.
As far as the last the scheme is concerned, the local football club would advertise the company in the ground and on the teams strips for two years. The cost of this advertisement is £350,000 and the tax savings are £100,000. This scheme would increase the sales of the company and also would contribute to the improvement of its relations with the local residents. However, this scheme includes a risk. Sometimes the players tend to have an aggressive attitude and this may have a bad impact in the company’s publicity.
To sum up, I believe that the best scheme is the third. However, it contains a risk, it is the only option that would increase the sales in short term and at the same time would boost the public relations and especially with the young

...minutes) but I’ve compressed it into two lessons (2 x 50 minutes). This was a request by my mentor explaining that I should cover as much as I possibly can for the exam. Thus, I am thinking that how could I teach this huge and important topic in the time frame given while not sacrificing student’s learning experience. A very difficult task but I’m willing to take the challenge. Most of my classes are weak classes. During my observation class with my mentor, she was doing correction on the test the students had. Only for class 9A, she explained to the students on why the answers were wrong and a short discussion before giving them the correct answer. However, for other classes she just wrote down the answer on the board and let them copy without any explanation or discussion. When I raised the issue, my mentor pointed out that weak students tend to forget what they have learnt in the class, so there is no point to even discuss their mistakes in test and assignments. I was also showed the test score of the weak students and found out that a lot of them failed biology. So, I decided to find out possible reason why the students failed this subject and request my mentor to allow me to mark their assignments. The assignments consist of structured questions. From the students’ answer, I could see that language is one of the problem. For some questions, students copied the definitions off the notes and for others that require their own answer, the words used are not suitable and difficult...

Standardized Test, Assessments, and Portfolios for Reading

...Running head: Standardized test, assessments, and portfolios for reading Standardized test, assessments, and portfolios for reading Students are constantly being “assessed” by their teachers. We examine their behavior patterns, learning styles, reading abilities, and even their happiness. The purpose of assessments is to educate the teacher on what our students know and how we can better serve them in learning the curriculum and more. State tests are administered yearly for students, and teachers give formative and summative assessments frequently in the classroom. There are benefits and downfalls to each type of assessment. Afflerbach (2005) discusses that the results from standardized reading assessments are “at best an approximation of the students’ actual achievement level” (p.158). Standardized test tell us if our student is above, at, or below proficient. They do not tell us what areas the student does well at or what skills they are lacking in. According to the work of Buly and Valencia (2002), “Students scoring below proficient on state assessments are usually placed in supplemental or remedial reading classes, which often focus on phonemic awareness and decoding skills at any grade level (Buly & Valencia, 2002). After being put in these “special help” reading classes, the student then goes back into content area classes (English, Math, Science) which all have difficult text where the student struggles with comprehension. The problem we are then...
