Movie Critique

A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee Williams in the mid thirties. This was held in New Orleans where the relationship of Blanche, her sister Stella and Stanley are being clarified. There is a big difference between the play and film and will go into deep details while answering the key points. Through out the film and play many characters changed there personality especially the way Blanche acted. Stanley is out of control like always and just wants things to go his way. Stella on the other hand isn’t pathetic but in the book she is. From the beginning since I read this book I never liked Stella. She never wants to listen to Blanches suggestions that she has. As I go further into details about this, I can say that both film and book were pretty good because I’ve seen worst.
The movie takes the audience to places which are only briefly mentioned in the play. Such as the bowling alley, the dance casino, where Blanche tells Mitch about her husbands death. In fact he killed himself at a dance casino so this scene is a perfect stay for the suicide of Alan. Another change is Mitch’s shock and disbelief of Stanley’s appearance about Blanches shady past and what she has done. Blanche doesn’t act the same in the play and film. Both the movie and play experience with the powerless women of important themes women dependence on men. Blanche is an insecure, unhappy old woman who masks herself as a wealthy, high class lady. She continues to seduce men as she cannot comprehend that her reliance on men will finally lead to her downfall. Stella is somewhat like Blanche and is reliant and men. She continues to go back to Stanley after he keeps hitting her and is

Atoms make up everything up in our planet, from micro-cellular organisms to New York’s extremely tall skyscrapers and massive buildings. Both these 2 things have one thing in common; they are both made out of atoms. Atoms are the building blocks of everything, but there is an important thing to remember, every element on the periodic table is made out of its own atoms, but that’s not the only type of atom, throughout the history of chemical discoveries...

...B Bradley the Inventor By Francis Allgood Last year, we got a new kid in our class.  His name is "B  Bradley."  We really didn't notice him much until last summer. I am on the same swim team as B.  Every morning, we have swimming practice at 7:30. That is just too early.  Our coach is very firm--no goofing around! B and I are in the same swimming lesson and live in the same neighborhood. We've both been complaining about lack of sleep. My mom made me go home from practice with B last week.  I really wanted to go to my best friend's house, but we car pool with the Bradley's and mom had to take care of some business. I'll never forget that day. B has a nice home--nothing too fancy. But his room is a real  surprise.  We walked into an immaculate room.  He didn't have any carpet or rugs--just linoleum--black and white. All of his walls are painted black.  His bunk beds are built into the wall, up high, like a loft. B has one wall that resembles a chemistry lab. His father built him these chrome shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. And there is a ladder that rolls along the top shelf.  He has hundreds of bottles in rich greens, deep blues, and vibrant reds--each neatly labeled.  He has a lap top which contains all of his experiments. I said, "Wow, B! What a room."  He looked sort of embarrassed and told me that he and his dad planned it just so.  He said, "You're in luck! Today we are going to work out the details of the rocket launcher." Of course, I have no idea what...

Englsih in the 20th Century

...ENGLISH IN THE 20th CENTURY Tarik El Adraoui In the 19th and 20th centuries, English emerged as the leading language in areas which have affected all aspects of society and laid the cultural foundation for the eventual growth of English as a world language. The rise of the British Empire could have established English as a world language.  But in fact, the rise of US economy continued the English language dominance. Following the World War II, English has been rapidly spreading around the world and related with the growth of the US as a powerful country in terms of economic, political, technological and cultural issues, then, some European languages, as French or German, were replaced in all that fields. According to the author, the US was destined to be the most powerful of industrialized countries because of its own natural and human resources. This evidenced in a huge number of English native speakers existing and increasing each day due to international exchange. World institutions began to require English as a dominant language with significant figures over others in advertising, education, translation, scientific research, communication and technology. In order to have a working language for international economic relations, financial institutions have increased the use of English for international economic relations and it started through some strategic plans where the US was participating in the economic restauration done as a consequence of the economic impact...

Personal Experience Learning Englsih as a Second Language

...Personal Experience with Language Personal Experience with Language Language is a big part of my everyday life. I hear different languages being spoken in many places. I experience a different kind of language the most at the nail salon. Language has a big effect on everyone, in my opinion every time I walk into the nail salon I hear someone talking in a different kind of language. I have no idea what they are saying, but I find it very impressive that most of them can speak English and their language, Vietnamese. As soon as I walk into the nail salon I always hear them talking to one another in their own language. I am sometimes very curious as to what they are saying. For example, they will carry on a conversation with each other and they both look at me and start laughing. It makes me wonder if they were talking about me. Although I cannot understand their language, I usually can tell their emotion by the tone in his or her voice or the look on their face. The body language usually gives it away as well. It is very easy to tell how someone feels by their actions. I love hearing the language they speak because it is very different then the English language. Being around a different language is also very difficult as well. Sometimes I go to someone that does not speak English very well and it is really hard to understand them. Sometimes I have to ask them to repeat their selves more than once, and if I still do not understand I kind of just laugh or just nod my head. It...

Arguematative Essay

...Alexondria Mckinney Professor Joyce Sawke Englsih 1010 23 September 2015 Curfew According to source A, there has been an ongoing debate between teenagers and adults about the topic of freedom. In today’s society teens feel entitled to their own independence while adults feel the need to control every situation. This debate arouses a concern that there is no structure in this society. Without a doubt, teenagers should have curfew levied against them whether by law or by their parents because it enhances protection and safety, it builds morality by learning responsibility while creating an unavoidable purpose. One reason why a curfew for teenagers should be highly recommend is because it enhances protection and safety. The teenager phase of a person’s life is the most manipulating and vulnerable aspect, teens at this point are heavily influenced and teens feed off of other people’s behavior. For example, Beyoncé is married to one of the biggest drug lords in the game, she is portrayed as having the life everyone wants and also the life people yearn for. Teens see this image and they run with it. They begin to somehow manipulate their mind into thinking that this lifestyle is acceptable and with this particular lifestyle comes drugs, sex, greed, and many other vulgar obsessions. The flow in which their mind is being manipulated leads to vulnerability. This opens up a whole new ball game in which teens are exposed to life threatening situations because there is a lack of curfew...

Kabir Das and Communcation

...Abstract Kabir Das : Literature and Communication Literature is the mirror of society and it is the reflection of the age, which it belongs to. Literature of any age and era shows the prevalent trend of the period when it was created and connects at its best to that era. The uniqueness of the literature of Saint Kabir is that it transcends all boundaries and limitations of time and place. In spite of the fact that his literature belongs to the period of 15th century it is still relevant, remembered, quoted and discussed with passion and fervor not only among the connoisseurs of art and literature but also among common man and youth. This article is an attempt to throw light on the various dimensions of Kabir Das’s literature and how it is still effectively communicated and in turn is used for effective communication. This paper contemplates on the varied aspects of kabir’s literature. Kabir’s literature is known for elements of mysticism, spirituality, concept of love, his objectivity in imparting moral education, his attack on vices of human behavior, hypocrisy and materialistic attitude. All these aspects are dominantly reflected in his literary works and are still relevant in today’s social scenarios which are well communicated in the form of his well remembered ‘Dohas’ and poetry. Hence, it is concluded that Kabir’s literature, in spite of being so old and classical is timeless and well applicable and connected with today’s era. His ‘Dohas’ makes...
