My test results labeled me as ENFJ and after reviewing the Humanetrics results and the information provided I do find this to be fairly accurate although not a conclusive result to my personality. The E stands for extraverted, which I find to be true only under certain circumstances. The N stands for Intuitive, which is also accurate when it comes to personal issues but not work related ones. The F stands for feeling and that is that I would base my decisions mostly on emotional decisions, this is fairly inaccurate since I feel like reasoning and logical decisions are a must. The last letter J stands for judging which I believe represents a person’s organizational habits. The application of J is vice versa to the N as it is applicable to my …show more content…
As a manager of a gas stations I always chose to create a relationship with the employees, as well as the customers, that provided comfort in the work place. I always search for solutions to which we can all agree so that issues are kept to a minimum so in this aspect I do feel that ENFJ is accurate. However, it is mentioned that ENFJ’s have trouble working on projects that may not fit their values. Now, I do find values to be important but I am a firm believer in the saying “business is business.” It does not matter whether it goes against my values, if I work for a company and the project at hand involves something that contradicts my values I will work on it without a problem so long as I am getting paid. As a college football player and a fan of sports I am very competitive and like to think I flourish under pressure and especially in a competitive setting. Also, the idea that I am reluctant to discipline subordinates is erroneous. While responsible of store operations and end results I was in constant competition with 27 other managers and quite usually had the best results. This was because I held everyone accountable for their mistakes. As you can imagine this would lead to conflict sometimes, something I never avoided as I see conflict as an opportunity to learn about your team and how to manage them properly. This enabled me to communicate with the employees more efficiently, which is why I think the Humanetrics result for an ENFJ’s ability to communicate is really accurate.
Assuming that the ENFJ’s tendencies are at work, I do want to disagree with the assumption that I am over empathetic. At work, just like at home, I have trouble showing empathy since I am usually very even-keel about personal issues and rarely try to relate to anyone on an emotional level. A simple “I’m sorry for your loss” or “sorry to hear that” will do. I do however, find this to be a bad trait of mine and feel that it may be necessary to show empathy to connect more with employees and clients.
