For some time now, I have realized that certain characteristics resonate with me and have always served as a solid foundation to most of my achievements and success stories. The characteristics which include public speaking, creative writing, storytelling and my ability to come up with creative and innovative ideas are the strengths and opportunities that define my personality.

With regard to my team, which seeks to provide healthy and tasty smoothies to students and teachers of the Ashesi Community and across university campuses in Ghana, I feel my strengths would in one way or the other help with the progress of the team.
My skill in public speaking has made my past presentations and speeches memorable. Because my team is a start up with aims at expanding to other university campuses in Ghana, I feel my public speaking skills would be beneficial when it comes to making …show more content…
Our strengths which include creativity, design, public speaking, financial management, innovation and marketing would assist us in our interaction before, during after the official launch of our business venture on the 14th February, 2017. The only weakness we have discovered so far is our high level of tolerance of certain unacceptable attitudes of our colleagues. I feel this is very beneficial to us because it would help prevent upcoming conflicts which would destroy the strong sense of unity that exists between us. Our main opportunity is that we would be able to use our strengths to expand our business to other university campuses in Ghana. Currently, two other groups are running businesses that sell smoothies, fruits and other alternatives on the Ashesi Campus. Therefore, our business to likely to collapse when we do not put in initiatives that would put us above our

Reflection on Personal Skills Development

...groups. Having been assigned tasks such as literature reviews, research essays or reflective essays, all of them involving either an oral or written presentation, I employed a range of skills that could not have found a better environment to develop in; critical thinking, working with others and time management are just few examples. Aside from measuring our ability and understanding of the assigned task, evaluation allows us to progress on things we are performing well on and adjust our weaknesses. According to Marshall and Rowland (1998), evaluation can be performed by ourselves, assessing and judging our work in a subjective manner or by others. However, the drawback of being our own assessors is the risk of being accused of bias. Therefore, acknowledging the feedback received on my work has been a significant factor for the development of my skills. It not only helped me better identify my strengths and weaknesses, but also gave me self-confidence and enthusiasm, two key factors for a continual improvement of one's self. The module I have undertaken in the second term, Personal Skills for Business Management Students, has undoubtedly drawn my attention to some of my weak points, such as note taking strategies and paraphrasing, and helped me improve them, as well as acknowledge the importance of developing a workload plan for each assessment. Even though time management has proved to be one of my strengths in each of the previous tasks I have accomplished, I still believe that...

...186ACC Coursework Assignment 2 A Reflective Essay Student ID: 186 ACC Coursework Assignment 2 – A Reflective Essay Introduction In this assignment I will be drawing upon what I have learnt in this semester’s module in order to better reflect on my strengths and weaknesses by supporting it with work and research conducted throughout the course. In conjunction with this I will be drawing upon the skills audit I conducted to help me create an action plan that addresses my individual needs and help develop a broader skill set. This would therefore make me more confident in communicating effectively in different situations. The course aims and objectives will be used with questionnaires, quizzes and other formats that were used to evaluate myself and preferential styles to show my strengths and weaknesses in this essay. In the introductory week we undertook a skills audits that helped us identify what our individuals learning styles where. I quickly learnt that I had similar results from both the audits and questionnaires which hinted that I am more reserved and observant. I was also told that I am very insightful and can express my own opinions well. The skills audit showed that I am more of a reflector/theorist (Online Skills Audit). Strengths and weaknesses: Main body I believe that all of my strengths are rather similar and therefore helps me conform very strong arguments which boast depth, analytical flare, and descriptive...

Learning Team Leadership Analysis

Managerial self-awareness and personal reflection play an important role in the leadership development process (McCarthy & Garavan, 1999). The 360-degree feedback process, multisource assessments, and personality inventories are useful in the context of leadership development (Church & Bracken, 1997; McCarthy & Garavan, 1999). Selfassessment and personal reflection are valuable tools in achieving personal and professional 2 growth and success. The challenge, however, is that self-assessment is oftentimes a difficult task due to the subjectivity of personal perceptions of strengths and weaknesses. The purpose of this essay is to report out on the assessment of the leadership styles of individual team members and identify the most important areas for improvement. The essay commences with a discussion on the criteria used for the selection of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as a self-awareness leadership instrument. The essay continues...

Strengths and Weaknesses

...Strengths and Weaknesses Essay A person’s strengths and weaknesses reflect their overall character and ability to lead. When looking at my character, it is important to consider all of my qualities, whether they are good or bad. For example, I consider leadership to be a large part of my personal identity. Since leadership is one of my most important characteristics, many of my strengths derive from it. My strengths are important to consider in my overall personality and the way I relate to other people. An important strength in my character is my ability to work hard and stay focused in a distracting environment. It is easy for me to accomplish tasks while others may try to distract me. For example, in class, I am able to get all my work done on time without being sidetracked. I am also very organized. This helps me to get things done faster and more efficiently. Organization is very important in the workplace and I have an advantage because of it. My ability to lead others is important as well. I can be a role model to those around me by exerting leadership qualities such as direction and responsibility. I am also very dependable and reliable. When working in teams, others can count on me to do my fair share of the work and not let them down. Even though I have many strengths, I also have weaknesses as well. Training Development

...development plan final reflection essay Personal Development Plan Final Reflection Essay In my previous personal development plan, I had made several initiatives through which I hoped to achieve certain goals both in academics and in social life. In the previous personal development plan, I had embarked more on the process that I believe would help me to think about my own learning, performance and achievements as well as to plan my personal, educational, social and career development. Since I made the plan within the PDP, there are certain changes that I have witnessed happening in my career, social and learning areas. For example, I have noted that for the last one semester, I have improved in a number of areas that I had pointed in my last PDP. In academics, I have achieved a lot, as my average grades have improved from the previous B+ to an A. This is primarily because I was able to develop clear SWOT analysis, in which I recognized my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats not only in academics, but also in my social life, extra-curricular activities and any other activity I took. With this plan, I worked hard to perfect my strengths, correct the weaknesses and make them my strong points, utilize the opportunities placed within my abilities and finally recognize and avoid any negative effect that was posed by the threats in the SWOT analysis (Bolton 2010). From these considerations, I recognized that some of my strengths were the ability to work under strict...

Maersk's was experiencing a rise in Employee turnover, had become a publicly traded company and competition was on the increase. HR had to analyze the situation, form a strategy and implement it. Maersk was expanding globally and trends in the broader market became increasingly mobile. The work force changed, talent, needs and practices also changed. Finding and retaining high-quality talent was becoming a bigger challenge. One advantage of hiring internally is that promoted employees are already familiar with the policies and culture. Hiring internally may also improve employee morale and loyalty. Disadvantages of hiring internally are potential narrowing of thinking, stale ideas (inbreeding), smaller talent pool (fewer applicants) and internal politics will occur (possible discontent of rejected applicants, new subordinates may not respect new boss). One advantage of hiring externally is that new candidates can provide new ideas or fresh perspectives. Another is...

Stages of individuals in becoming a group

...Discuss the various stages a group of individuals may go through when becoming a team and in doing so pay particular attention to how conflict can be evident and overcome during the process.” The purpose of this essay is to discuss the various stages of team development & roles with in teams and to talk about conflict resolution within groups. Teams are typically a small (10-15) unit of people with a specific set of skills that have come together to achieve a common goal. Work teams can also be generally defined as an interdependent collection of individuals (Hackman, 1980). It is vital that individuals are capable to not only work efficiently on their own but also able to come together as a team and to compromise and communicate well. Good team management means the outcome of good team performance which is being proven to be the key building blocks within organisations (Boddy, 2011). The essay will provide an overview of two theories concerning team development and roles. The two ideas of focus will be on Belbin’s team roles and Tuckman’s team development theories as well as the Thomas- Kilmann’s Conflict Resolution mode.
