Golding in his novel, Lord of the Flies, argues that the strongest prevail over the weak. A couple of instances where this is demonstrated are when Jack makes his own group and everyone joins him because he’s stronger, nobody disobeys the stronger people because they are scared they will get hurt, and lastly Jacks group has stronger people so they take over Ralphs group. The structure of the boat stayed strong. The walls and its supports were able to withstand the force and wetness of the pond water. Ideally this was made possible because the bottom of our boat was two cardboard pieces thick and the bottom of the entire boat was taped. Our paddles on the other hand were a different story. We created paddles in the shape of ping-pong rackets and the arm of these devices didn’t hold up so well. The cardboard became very flimsy and the arms of the rackets bent, unable to sustain the water and pressure we were exerting upon them. For example, the trend lines for the 2015 and 2016 seasons were actually positive, meaning that foreigners correlated with a higher winning percentage whereas on the whole time period they did not (Appendix J & K).
