We will discuss the magnitude of what poor customer service skills on the phones and in the field has on Comcast when it comes to their new customers and existing customers. We will a solution and opportunity Comcast has to bring back old customer, keeping existing customer while making new customers by fixing their communications skills and customer service.

Comcast Cable is the nation’s largest video, high speed Internet and phone provider to residential customers. While they provide a valuable service for a massive market the corporation has a bad history of poor customer service. According to Business Insider, “Complaints include poor communication of upgrade and billing changes, lost channels for customers who didn't upgrade to digital box or digital-ready TV, long waiting time for technicians and price hikes” Lubin (2013). With competition in the market exceptional customer service is a must. According to Chron “A company with excellent customer service is more likely to get repeat business from customers. Consequently, the company will benefit with greater sales and profits. Contrarily, companies with poor customer service may lose customers, which will have a negative impact on business” Suttle (2013). Considering the high level of importance of customer service a research study will be an excellent step towards gaining success in the company. Some research questions to consider for this issue are, what changes can be made to increase customer service. What areas are lacking customer service skills the most and how can new procedure be assimilated into the company.
Knowing that overall customer service needs to be improved, identifying where in customer service to focus on will help determine how to

Social Issues

...Final Project; Social Problems ETH/125 Ramona Taitano Loughran 04/15/12 Final Project; Social Problems This class has been very informative. We have been given a lot of information regarding diversity and overall I understand it a lot better. The best piece of information that I got from the diversity teachings was the fact that we learn so much from other people. I live close to San Francisco, CA and it is one of the most diverse cities in America. Not only are there so many different races, there are a bunch of different lifestyles that people live out here. For example; you have your surfer dudes, hippies, gays/lesbians/transgender, and you typical straight person. I can learn something from all of these different types of people. I can’t say that I have learned anything new about my own culture and history, as I am pretty up to date with what’s going on in the world today. I am African American and I pretty much know all of my history. I was nice to brush up on my history because it is very easy to forget what things were like in the past. This is the reason why I always try to tell my kids how fortunate they are. I don’t know if I could have lived in the segregated times and during the civil rights movement. I probably would have fled the country had I been living during the slave trade era. I’m just very thankful that I’m able to raise my children in a world where they have all of the same opportunities as anyone else. On to the...

Professional Accounting in the Public Interest

...Chapter Four Professional Accounting in the Public Interest, Post-Enron Purpose of the Chapter When the Enron, Arthur Andersen, and WorldCom debacles triggered the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX), a new era of stakeholder expectations was crystallized for the business world and particularly for the professional accountants that serve in it. The drift away from the professional accountant’s role as a fiduciary to that of a businessperson was called into question and reversed. The principles that the new expectations spawned and renewed resulted in changes in how the professional accountants are to behave, what services are to be offered, and what performance standards are to be met. These standards have been embedded in a new governance structure and in guidance mechanisms, which have domestic and international components. The influence of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) will be as important as that of SOX in the long run. This chapter examines each of these developments and provides insights into important areas of current and future practice. Building upon the understanding of the new stakeholder accountability framework facing clients and employers developed in earlier chapters, this chapter explores public expectations for the role of the professional accountant and the principles that should be observed in discharging that role. This leads to consideration of the implications for services to be...

The study shows that firms with liquid stocks have better performance as measured by the firm market-to-book ratio. This result is robust to the inclusion of industry or firm fixed effects, a control for idiosyncratic risk, a control for endogenous liquidity using two-stage least squares, and the use of alternative measures of liquidity. To identify the causal effect of liquidity on firm performance, we study an exogenous shock to liquidity—the decimalization of stock trading—and show that the increase in liquidity around decimalization improves firm performance. The causes of liquidity’s beneficial effect are investigated: Liquidity increases the information content of market prices and of performance-sensitive...
