Ethics Case Paper Jerry McCall’s is working for an office assistant but when the receptionist went to grab lunch Jerry said he would listen for any phone calls while she was gone. Jerry received a phone call from a patient that is seen regularly in the office. The patient needed to leave within 30 minutes and needed some more of his antidepressants refilled because it calms him down so he is relaxed for when he is on the air plane flight. Jerry needs to figure out how to get the medication to the patient before he leaves because it is something he needed. Jerry has some medical training that I feel would allow him to call the prescription in for the patient. Where I worked the employees were about to call prescriptions in for patients that needed refills on their medications if there is a written slip from the doctor that qualified personnel is allowed to call prescriptions in. Now if Jerry was not given permission he could call the doctor on duty to get permission or have the doctor calls a prescription in for the patient before he leaves. This type of medical is one that the patient should have because it helps with his moods and how they handle themselves in the everyday world. An antidepressant is not a medication that one can just stop at anytime so the patient needs to have a refill on his prescription. Because this medication needs to be taken every day, Jerry should be able to call the prescription in or the doctor should have no problem calling in a new prescription in for the patient. Jerry will have to go check the proto-call for the office to see what he should do about the problem he is facing. If he cannot find a proto-call anywhere he is going to have to try calling the doctor on duty again. Because the patient has been on this medication before the chances of any reactions

Ethics Case Paper

...Ethics Case One ethical lesson from this article, is when something is wrong, one should speak up and let their voice about the issue be heard. A second lesson from this case is that a lot of times middle management does not report all of the facts to top management in order for critical decisions to be made. Finally, a third ethical lesson from this case is to tell the truth about effects of decisions or information being presented, so that way it is true and unbiased. All three of the above listed lessons are relevant to someone who decides to enter into the accounting profession. This is because as accounts, one of our duties is to provide accurate and timely information in order for decisions by investors, creditors, and internal managers to be made. Most all of the ethical lessons that were discussed in the case were based on misleading information, or information that was inaccurate when trying to make a final decision. The decisions discussed in the case were not made in order to help make decisions; rather top managers were trying to save themselves and their reputations. The first ethical lesson pulled from the case was that when there is information that is misrepresented or wrongly described, one should not hesitate to speak up. Whether you are looking over information from peers on your own level or information from top-level management or anyone higher in a company than you, one should be able to speak up to misrepresented information. As someone going...

Ethics Case Study Paper

...Ethics Case Study – Jerry McCall University of Phoenix Ethics Case Study In health care today, there is sometimes a lax attitude regarding rules and regulations. Some allied health professionals may be tempted to inappropriately use their position because of a personal feeling of empowerment. There are always ethical and legal issues that influence outcomes and this care is just another example of the difficulties that allied health professionals face every day. Jerry is trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and currently working as a medical assistant. Jerry’s training allows him to provide general assessments, administer medications, and provide treatments. As an LPN, he is able to administer oral medications, as well as some injectable medications. Also, as a medical assistant, Jerry is also responsible for varying levels of clerical work, which may include the writing of scripts. This is more of a common practice today because of electronic prescription software. However, all prescriptions must be originated by a licensed physician and must undersigned by this same provider. Even though this patient is a personal friend of Dr. Williams, the same prescription standard needs to apply. Jerry would need to contact the physician to obtain a verbal order, which he needs to document appropriately before he can give the patient the script. Whether the fact that the medication is for fear of flying or if it is a critically needed medication like anti-hypertensive’s...

Byp 1-7 Ethics Case Paper

...* BYP 1-7 Ethics Case Paper * University of Phoenix This case’s purpose is fully to examine how Ethics plays a vital role in the decision-making process within the given scenario. First of all, the stakeholders in this situation need to be defined before examining the issues. Next, the examination of the ethical issues involved within the context of the given scenario needs to be looked at. Finally, an analysis of what ethical actions I would have taken if I was Wayne Terrago under the circumstances given in this scenario will be explored. To begin with, the stakeholders in this situation need to be defined before examining the issues. After careful assessment of the situation, I will lay out a step by step reasoning behind who I believe are the main stakeholders in this ethical dilemma. The most obvious stakeholders in this given situation are the President of Robbins Industries, the Vice President of Finance of Robbins Industries, and Mr. Wayne Terrago, the Controller of Robbins Industries because they are the individuals responsible for making the decisions in this situation and are the main decision makers responsible for financial and accounting decisions at Robbins Industries. The shareholders and the employees of Robbins Industries will be the stakeholders who will be most affected by the decision that will be made by the three decision makers because in most cases of accounting fraud by a company, the losers in the situation...
