Code of Conduct There are many high standards and principles that a business must set in order to be and remain successful. Many companies outline their expectations in a code of conduct. A code of conduct is a document written by a company that defines the ethical standards of the organization and gives employees information on how to handle situations within the organization. It is not only important that a business writes a code of conduct, but it is imperative that the principles are carried out by everyone within the business from the CEO to the employees. “While the primary goal of all businesses is to be profitable, they must also promote ethical and social responsibility throughout their organizations and their corresponding customer and supplier networks.”(Kelly, McGowen &Williams).(2013) Chipotle Mexican Grills’ Code of Conduct Chipotle has a code of conduct that assures its ongoing success. Some of the key components are its Vision Statement and its Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policies. An organizations’ vision statement expresses its values as well as frameworks operating procedures. Chipotles code of conduct begins with its vision statement and is based primarily on Integrity. “Chipotle is a company based on Integrity. Integrity is about being real and being honest. It means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. These values permeate the way we do, and do not do business.”(Integrity Statement)(2013).

The statement is significant because it outlines Chipotles’ commitment to a very important business ethic, which is honesty. Honesty is necessary in all business environments because it helps to keep things in perspective. The other key
