...M E M O R A N D U M TO | Mr Luke Tong | FROM: | Kylie Vanuti | DATE: | 1 March 2010 | RE | Proposal to Write a Feasibility Report for an Employee Work/Life Balance Program | Overview The following is a proposal to conduct a feasibility study into the need for, and the benefits of, instituting an employee work/life balance program for Brahm Industries. This proposal contains background on the importance of employee work/life balance on productivity, my qualifications, costs associated with the study, and a schedule for completion of the feasibility study. Attracting and retaining talent is crucial to an organisation's success and with the current trends in the labour market, retaining talent and ensuring business continuity is an ongoing challenge that requires careful human resource management. Need for a Work/Life Balance Program Research shows that to maintain a healthy lifestyle balance, a 24 hour day should be divided into thirds: one third for sleep, one third for work and one third for play. The trend in today’s workplace is for employees to work longer hours and as a result, when they arrive home they do not feel like exercising or cooking quality meals. As well, many employees are not taking their holidays. These two issues result in lethargy and absenteeism due to health issues and impact on employee productivity. A healthy staff will reduce costs to the organisation and assist in meeting budget requirements. Research also shows that work-life balance...

A Research Proposal: How to Develop a Business Strategy to Expand a Business in an International Market?‏ Read More: Http: //Www.Ukessays.Com/Essay-Examples/Business-Essay-Examples/Business-Strategy-International-Market.Php#Ixzz2Howzexxn

...1. Introduction The globalization of the economy, internationalization of businesses and emergence of new markets are all key themes in contemporary business. Whereas international business may once have been the province of organisations with sufficient scale and reach, these types of companies – typically multi-national corporations - no longer have a monopoly on this kind of business. Increasing numbers of firms, of varying scale, are confronted with compelling reasons for expanding their activities across multiple national boundaries. In some cases, such motivation includes the knowledge that success in international markets is a pre-requisite for survival; if competitor organisations succeed in international markets, they may achieve the scale and liquidity which affords them sustainable competitive advantage. However, scrutiny of the empirical experience of international expansion suggests that the apparent potential is by no means straightforward to achieve in practice. This raises questions about whether or not it is realistic to envisage a ‘best practice’ in terms of international expansion strategy. Can the latter be conceived of as a specific and transferable management skill, or is it instead reliant upon expertise in a particular sector of business, a market, or a national culture? After all, if proven strategists are found wanting, where can the organisation go in terms of its future practice? Large, successful and sophisticated businesses have often found that...

A Modest Proposal

...Ryan Warm 1 Swift wrote "A Modest Proposal" under a pseudonym, so who is the speaker here? The speaker was created by Swift, and in this case was a man off of the street. 2 Discuss the tone of the piece. Pull examples from the text to support your discussion. The tone was informative and optimistic, because the man told of his solution and believed that it would work. For example, when he says, “There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas!” 3 As you know, effective argumentation appeals to logic (logos), ethics (ethos) and emotions (pathos). Please discuss how Swift uses all three appeals and how these tools impact his purpose. Swift appealed to logic by proposing something illogical, which provokes attention. He appealed to ethics by creating something unethical, which is eating children. He appealed to emotions by making certain people angry with his crazy proposal. All of these appeals cause readers to take interest in his essay and helped them realize the issues in society. 4 Explain the irony in Swift’s title, "A Modest Proposal." This proposal was very extreme, by suggesting the eating of children to solve the problem; so calling it modest is very ironic. 5 Where does this essay fit on the continuum (Horatian to Juvenalian)? Explain/support your position. The essay is Juvenalian...

...Must Read: The Underlying Principle behind the Proposal and Presentation A proposal serves the purpose of selling an audience on something. It attempts to sway a group of people to your way of thinking. A proposal is not a term paper or a study strict. It’s supported by studies but isn’t a study in itself. It has to be structured in such a way that the reader can easily read and quickly process the information. Oftentimes the proposal is accompanied with a presentation. So, the reader will have to do double-time when it comes to information processing. Let me share with you a recent presentation horror story: A company salesperson came to my organization trying to persuade us to buy the product they were pitching. The product was a fairly good product but the pitch was horrible. The proposal was written like a study. The font was much too small and the line spacing was much too close. Additionally, the slide presentation had no pictures to set the mood and the presenter read from the slides… boring! This happens much too often. The "A" Paper example is a good proposal structure that has been used in business by me and other instructors that are business veterans. Please print out the example and follow its basic format. If you have problems creating text boxes or proper alignments please get assistance from the library staff or a friend. Changes here and there are OK. The presentation should contain between 8 to 12 slides and to be accompanied by a one-page executive briefing...

The term "research proposal" indicates that a specific course of action will be followed. The following components can be regarded as steps in the writing of the research proposal. They are important and should be followed for the actual composition of the proposal: 1. Title page of the research proposal A research proposal should be submitted with a title page on which full particulars pertaining to the following appear: the name of the researcher; student number; course; and the following wording: Research proposal in preparation of a research project with the following proposed detail:"..... " (For example: "The education in Public Administration of chief directors employed in provincial government departments") 2. Introduction Emphasise the importance of the proposed research and describe the research topic or theme. This is usually done in one or two paragraphs. In all cases it should be stated whether a relationship exists between the proposed research and research undertaken before. If no such research has been undertaken previously, this should be pointed out. 3. Motivation Present, as clearly as possible, the source of interest...
