Facebook is not only a place to advertise, but also a new way to advertise. Facebook started with a social media version word of mouth marketing strategy. Even though just very few people click on Facebook ads, many advertisers are still using Facebook as one of their advertising strategies. Open Graph was a set of technologies that integrated other participating cites with Facebook. The biggest challenge for Facebook is the demands of new kinds of advertising.
Facebook was a new trend of advertising. Estimated 600 million active Facebook users spend more than six and half hours a month on Facebook. Facebook advertises were frequently appeared in front of users’ eyes. Even though on average people clicked on Facebook ads only once every 2,000 times they were viewed, Facebook users become aware of the brands. When they want to buy any products, they will automatically consider the brands they saw on Facebook as one of their choices.
Google is one of Facebook’s competitors. The advertising concepts of those two website are different. Facebook’s advertising is aimed at branding; Google is aimed at immediate purchase. Google is more focused on customers’ request. If a customer wants to buy a pair of shoes, when he or she typed shoes in Google, ads related to shoes will appear on top of the page. Facebook needs to remain coming up with new advertising ideas.
