Family Television Review

I decided to review Family Guy as my family sitcom. Although I have watched the show for a while I never really thought about what kind of worldview the family has or how it has impacted my own views on family values. In this sitcom it seems to me that the family does try to be good a Christian family and go to church but, they do not succeed in doing so. The family is rude to one another and the baby tries to kill his mother in almost every episode. I do understand that it is made for comedy purposes only I believe that sometimes they tend to overstep the boundaries. I do believe that they try to make the family seem like they would do anything for each other. In one of the episodes the mother tries to cover up for her son because they believed he murdered a man but it turns out he did not. To me that shows although he broke the law she was willing to do anything for him to protect him. I do believe that television shows impact our views on life and our views on family values. After watching this show I realized that it impacted my view on family values negatively. I would not want my family to be dysfunctional like the Griffin family. They make fun of the eldest daughter in many episodes, the second son Chris does horribly in school and both children to not respect their parents. The parents Peter and Louis love each other and I can see that in episodes and in all of the episodes I have seen they are monogamous to each other so that does show that they are still trying to put some values in the show. The baby Stewie is always trying to kill his mother and they make it seem like it is an ok thing to do. But I would not raise my own children the way that they did in this show. It is not right in anyway in my mind. Being a mother of two young children it is important to teach them at a young age of what is right and what is wrong. To me Family Guy is teaching people the wrong things about life and about family values. I do not let my children watch this show when it comes on television because it is not right for them to watch this at such a young age and I do not want them to learn anything bad from the show. In my honest opinion I believe that the show has a humanism worldview because most of the episodes are based on this worldview. Each of the family members has their own worldview and their own thoughts about what to believe in and what is right and what is wrong. This sitcom is made to make people laugh and it does all around the world, I believe that because it over steps some the boundaries on things that some other shows would not normally do. But, I do see now how it influences people to believe that some things are right when they are not well not right in my mind.

...wheeler segment was largely dominated by Automobile Products of India (API) and Enfield. Later on towards the end of the 50s Bajaj Autos began importing Vespa scooters from the Italian company Piaggio. In the following decades, the automobile industry in India was mainly dominated by scooters with API and later Bajaj dominating the market. There were very few products and choices available as far as motorcycle is concerned and Enfield bullet and Rajdoot dominated the market. The 80s saw the entry of Japanese companies in the Indian market with the opening up of the market to foreign companies. Hero Honda and TVS Suzuki are companies formed in this era of market reform. The market was still predominantly scooter dominated and Bajaj and LML were the leading brands producing two-wheelers at that time. Scooter was viewed as a more family and utility friendly vehicle than motorcycle and hence was preferred. The Japanese companies not only collaborated with Indian companies to produce the already existing products but also brought in new technology as a result of which the ever conquering 100cc bikes which were extremely fuel efficient with 4 stroke engines were launched in India. These proved to be highly successful as they provided a cheap and affordable means of personal transport to all those who could not buy a car. The flourishing middle class took a great liking for these bikes and the bike sales in India began to grow exponentially year...

Tesla

...Strategic Perspective and Ethics Key Issue The key issue involving Tesla Motors is the organizations approach to marketing their product and social mission. The fundamental idea behind the company’s existence is to create vehicles that require sustainable energy as oppose to fossil fuel dependency. The demand for their products is built on the zoom out, bigger picture idea that consumers will eventually switch from the current fossil fuel powered cars to alternative energy powered cars in the future (Kanter, 114). The founder and current Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, created this organization based on his long term vision that the future of automobiles requires a less oil dependent vehicle. Tesla Motors has consistently reported losses since implementation but the growth and popularity of the organization is based on the future potential and not present success. Shareholders and those involved will eventually want to see real results for them to continue to support Musks bigger picture (Kanter, 114). By non-GAAP standards the company has reported an expectation to create positive earnings and cash flow by early 2016 but previously the company has failed to meet short term expectations (https://hbr.org/2015/05/teslas-not-as-disruptive-as-you-might-think). The lack of profit stems from a combination of dismal efforts to reach more consumers and generate awareness, the costs associated to purchase a vehicle and Teslas approach to marketing and generating sales. Indian Motorcycle Industry Overview

...INDIAN TWO-WHEELER INDUSTRY Industry volume growth expected to gear down to 8-9% in 2012-13 ICRA RATING FEATURE MAY 2012 Overview The Indian two-wheeler (2W) industry recorded sales volumes of 13.4 million units in 2011-121, a growth of 14.0% over the previous year. In a year wherein growth in other automobile segments particularly, passenger vehicle (PV) and medium & heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV), slowed down to single digits - marred by demand slowdown due to northward movement of inflation, fuel prices and interest rates - the 14% growth recorded by the 2W industry remained steady. However, the momentum in the 2W industry’s volume growth too has been losing steam lately as evident from the relatively lower volume growth of 11.0% recorded in H2, 2011-12 (YoY) against a growth of 17.1% recorded in H1, 2011-12 (YoY). The deceleration in growth is largely attributable to the motorcycles segment which grew at a much lower rate of 7.8% (YoY) in H2, 2011-12 vis-à-vis 16.4% in H1, 2011-12; even as the scooters segment continued to post 20%+ (YoY) expansion during both halves of the last fiscal. With this, the share of the scooters segment in the domestic 2W industry volumes increased to 19.1% in 2011-12 from 17.6% in 2010-11. Overall, ICRA expects the domestic 2W industry to report a volume growth of 8-9% in 2012-13 as base effect catches up with the industry that has demonstrated a strong volume expansion over the last three years at cumulative annual growth rate...
