Fantasia Three long years have elapse since Fantasia Barrino released a new album. “Back To Me” is her third album, and I must say this album is a hit. This album went back to what’s missing in the R&B world such as great melody, meaningful lyrics, and soulful singing. The first single, “Bittersweet” is talking about being in love with someone can be pleasant, but then it can be sour. “You know sometimes you have to put yourself first” are the first words you hear when you listen to this album. “I’m Doing Me” is the second single off the album that has raised to the No. 16 spot on Billboards’ R&B/Hip-Hop chart. This album has 12 tracks that you can take pleasure in listening to. It’s not following the music trend that a pretty face and a nice body will sell your album. Fantasia is a beautiful person inside and out, but her realness and angelic voice should be enough to sell this album. Fantasia has proven herself on this album by singing songs that we all have heard before. You can feel that her heart is in every track on this album. She is in the league with the other R&B divas such as Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, India Arie, Jill Scott, and Joss Stone. Fantasia recruited some of the hit makers to work with her on this album. Claude Kelly, Rico Love, Cee-lo Green, and Ne-Yo who wrote Beyonce’s hit, “To The Left,” another all time ladies anthem. “Man Of The House,” “I’m Here” and “Who’s Been Loving You” are not my favorite tracks. Other R&B female artists have sung about their independence or I’m the right woman for you. The doo-wop sound of “Collard Greens & Cornbread” is one of my favorite tracks off this album. Fantasia vocals are deep then she goes into a higher pitch, as the beat gets higher. This is a snap your finger song with a sample from “Your Precious Love” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. “Teach Me” and “Move On Me” are blazing tracks. Both songs have that Caribbean and Bollywood sound with Fantasias’ kiddy voice at the end with a slight laugh. “It was fun, but now we’re done” are the lyrics on “The Thrill Is Gone,” which featured Cee-lo Green of Gnarls Barkley. This song have that Isaac Hayes Stax Records sound. The drums are heavy in the background with the background vocals of the 1967 soul singers. The last track on the album is “I’m Here,” which is from the successful musical, “The Color Purple.” While taking a break from the music scene, Fantasia played the role of Celie. You can feel the emotions in that song. The album package is beautiful done. The cover is an appealing picture of Fantasia dressed in an asymmetric purple silk dress. The background color for the cover is black with purple hue. The inside cover colors are purple with the songs wrote in yellow and the credits in pink writing. Then she has a pink background with yellow writing. There are three pictures of Fantasia that are simple but elegant. In the thank you section, she thanks her dad for being there for her, even though he sued her in the beginning of her career. I found it touching that she addressed her fans as friends. In 2004, her debut album, “Free Yourself” was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America, which landed her four Grammy nominations. The album landed at No. 8 on Billboards’ top 200.
In 2006, she released her sophomore album, “Fantasia”, which featured the hit, “When I See U.” This album did not do as well as her debut album, it was certified Gold, but received three Grammy nominations. “Back To Me” is No. 2 on Billboards’ 200-album charts. Her debut album, “Free Yourself” debut at No. 8 on the same chart at the time of the release. Her sophomore album, “Fantasia” debut at No. 19 on the same chart at the time of the release. Seems like the rate “Back To Me” is heading, maybe we will witness her winning a Grammy. This is an album that is an easy, understandable listen. A young girl that is in high school to your professional workingwoman will enjoy this album. This album will be remembered as one of Fantasias’ best work, and that she finally found herself. “I’m a woman of my word, and my words are always the truth. Now I’m finally “Back To Me” lets go.”

Fantasia 2000

...The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas The scenes of Mickey Mouse “The sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas deviously disobeying his master sorcerer’s wishes to pale water in buckets by hand, is etched into the minds of many children abroad. In many ways this clever adaptation to the film set attributes to the success and popularity of the piece. The score itself is much like that of what is to be found during the third movement of a typical symphony; the scherzo. Literally meaning ‘joke’ in Italian, the scherzo is light-hearted in step and often made of compounded rhythms to simulate a waltz or dance form. Appropriately this is where the cusp of the piece derives much of its remembrance, but it begins much more mysterious and dark in its opening passage through vibrating backdrops of violins, and haunting trills of woodwind. This scene is where the apprentice and sorcerer part for the night, before the sudden gasp of the full orchestra is hurled into action as the sorcerer leaves the space, thus allowing his shorter company to run amuck in the wee hours of the night. The apprentice and his stolen wand, quickly put to work magical hordes of broom sticks, complete with arms, legs and an uncanny attitude. The music is quickly molded through a sparse uncertain introduction eventually picking up speed as each new broom take a life...

Disney Films

...Many parents feel that Disney animated films are pure and wholesome, and they are perfectly suitable for children to watch starting at very young ages. On the surface of Disney movies, they are quite wholesome and they try to teach life lessons, but do these movies really portray positive images of men and women that will help a child become an individual, or do Disney movies place ideas in children’s heads, at early ages, telling them how they should act, feel, and live. In an article printed on December third 1966 in Time magazine, the author proposed that Disney films were just as much for adults as they were for children. “Disney always maintained that he made films not for children but for "honest adults."”(time.com). Anyone who has seen a Disney animated film can see that most of these movies are based on adult situations that involve the union of man and women in one way or another. For as long as Walt Disney animated films have been around, spanning eight decades, they have made a great impact on the way children view themselves and others, and they help shape how children view the opposite sex in a negative way. Most people were exposed to the wonderful world of Disney animated films when they were still toddlers. And since people are exposed to this material at such young ages, these films tend to give children an early idea of how men and women, according to Walt Disney studios, interact with each other. They also show children at an early age how people of their...

O Poeta E a Fantasia

... A antítese do brincar é o real.

Accountability and Rhetoric During a Crisis

...Accountability and Rhetoric during a Crisis: Walt Disney’s 1940 Letter to Stockholders Joel H. Amcrnic UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO and Russell J. Craig AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY ACCOUNTABILITY AND RHETORIC DURING A CRISIS: WALT DISNEY’S 1940 LETTER TO STOCKHOLDERS Abstract: In 1940, Walt Disney was faced with crafting a message of corporate accountability under duress. His company, the product of his creative genius, had been forced to submit to public accountability. It had a pressing need to raise preferred equity finance for a major expansion during a period of market uncertainty, war, and reported losses. This paper conducts a “close reading” of the “Letter to Stockholders” in Walt Disney Productions’ 1940 annual report, the first such letter signed by Walt Disney. The letter’s rhetorical features, including metaphor and ideology, are examined in the context of the times. What is revealed is an accountability document skillfully crafted with the exigencies faced by Disney’s company firmly in mind. The letter offers suggestive insight to the world as Disney made sense of it. The paper contributes to understanding the use of rhetoric by top management in activities related to aspects of financial accountability and reporting. It also helps to understand better a significant public persona of the 20th century, Walt Disnev. Acknowledgment The authors wish to acknowledge the helpful comments of the reviewers. SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES Analysis of annual reports, including letters...

Critic to Homer

...to animate animals, but humans? To solve the problem, they filmed live actors doing exactly what the characters would do. This would work, but there was still a problem with the size of objects and losing things in the foreground when the camera zoomed. The solution ... a multiplane camera. In this camera, instead of many layers of artwork, there would be two, the foreground and the background. This made zooming in and out easier. In the 1940's there were four classical Disney feature animated movies to come out: Pinocchio, Dumbo, Fantasia, and, Bambi. Little did Walt Disney know that the five movies that he made would be the base for many more Disney movies. In the movie Pinocchio for example, a toy maker creates a puppet and when he makes a wish upon a star.....the puppet turns into a real boy. Dumbo was the next movie to come about from Disney. Dumbo is a movie that teaches, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Now Fantasia on the other hand is a totally different kind of movie. It's a cartoon musical. Bambi was the next movie to come out. To some it might be called a...
