Festinger describes cognitive dissonance as a psychological state which results when a person perceives that two cognitions both of which he believes to be true, do not “fit” together; that is, they seem inconsistent. ...1 - Introduction The influence of top management team (TMT) on organizational behavior and outcomes is one of the most widely studied relationships in strategic management. Since Hambrick and Mason’s (1984) seminal article on organization’s “upper echelons”, organizations and strategy researchers have tried to establish a relationship between top management team demographic characteristics and firm outcomes. However, empirical results have been inconsistent. Certo, Lester, Dalton and Dalton (2006), after conducting a meta-analysis of several studies, found modest support for a direct relationship between TMT demographic indicators and firm performance, but indicated moderating influences. Hambrick (1994) provided the main argument against TMT research based on demographic characteristics. According to him, this line of inquiry pays “too little attention to the actual mechanisms that serve to convert group characteristics into organization outcomes” (p. 185). In other words, deforestation can be defined as the transformation of forest land to non-forest uses where forest land includes lands under agro-forestry and shifting cultivation, and not simply closed canopy primary forests (FAO/UNEP, 1982). However, this definition does not include “logging”. More inclusive was Myers’s 1980 definition, where deforestation refers, “generally to the complete destruction of forest cover through clearing for agriculture … [so] … that not a tree remains, and the land is given over to non-forest purposes … [and where] very heavy and unduly negligent logging … [result in a] … decline of biomass and depletion of ecosystem services … . ...Overview of TASO: The Aids Support Organization (TASO) is an indigenous organization in Uganda that provides HIV/AIDS services to persons living with the virus. The organization was founded by Noerine Kaleeba and fifteen volunteers who had little to no experience to support persons living with HIV/AIDS in 1987. TASO expanded its operation to four regional offices and 10 service centers in most parts of Uganda. In 2004 TASO came up with the initiative by offering antiretroviral therapy (ART) to most of its clients on first come, first serve basis. Although the organization overpowered with financial support from numerous NGO‘s and other organizations, in 2006 funds started depleting as a result of mismanagement which pose significant threat to its survival. Additionally, TASO assertion of it robust development and accomplishment in Uganda continues to be one of great success reflecting on how it initially started.
