African Americans are one of the most significant humans on this earth. There has been so many historical events that have evolved around the African American community. African Americans and the fight for their right against America. On major idea was the African American community to have the courage to fight for the rights of the African community. One specific topic of the African community was the ability to stay strong and succeed with the events that were happening. African Americans had to take the pain and heartache to gain their rights for any challenge they were fighting for. Many may disagree on the fact that African American should be able to be equal and free under the American rights in the Constitution. In my opinion the African American people should not had to of fought so hard to become equal if they were born as American, even slaves that were set free. The African American people should have had the same equal rights. African American men and women were beaten and forced to be less of the American because of the color of their skin. It was not always the fight for African Americans to have power but to equal as Americans. These movements that the United States have witnessed only made a way for the African American people to consider themselves as equals and proud Americans. African American should have the right to be equal and have the same opportunity to be equally respected. The rights of African American had such a great impact on our lives today. Fight for your Right!

Many events happen over the decades for African American. So many important event and factors such as The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is an African-American civil rights organization in the United States, formed in 1909. The

How to Maintain a Long Distance Relationship

... relationships have the potential to be very difficult. This is because two people fall in love and still do not if they are going to the same college. Falling in love right before college acceptances are out is very risky especially if one party is smarter than the other. That being said, if you do really love someone and you end up in a long distance relationship, you are not doomed. It is possible that it works out. If as a couple you are happy when you are physically together, then you should also be happy when you are some miles apart. However, before one attempts to be in a long distance relationship, they have to be very sure that this is what they want to do. They could potentially lose their other half even as a friend as fights when in a long distance relationship can get pretty heated, unless of course they have a very solid base. Nonetheless, it is tough when you are trying to build a new life elsewhere. It somehow feels like there is no space to fit a piece of your old life in. Your other half needs to know that there is space for them in your new life. That being said, communication is one of the main keys to making a long distance relationship in college work. You need to make your other half feel special and important. Also, you need to be able to remind yourself that he/she is still in your life. Although they are not physically there, they are there for you if you need them. Set a weekly Skype date in order for both of you to feel that there is time. College...

Broken Union

...dream. During this time America will be put through strain and heartache to prosper and become the country that many look toward for freedom. The 50’s were a time where we had to take a step back and reanalyze because of the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. These two major events that happened in America may have shaped us in the wrong way. During this time in America, we were divided as a whole. It wasn’t one country but two, not by where you lived but rather by your skin color. If you were born with the wrong skin color you would be penalized for this. “Although African Americans’ subjugation holds a special place in U.S. history, they were by no means the only important group facing severe marginalization during the 1950s and since. Native Americans as well as Latinos and Latinas were subject to systematic racial discrimination, dispossession of property, and hate crimes.” (Super, 2014) America was a dark place if you weren’t white and that held us back as a nation. To end racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans, the African-American Civil Rights Movement started. This movement was to give blacks equal rights with their white counterpart. In order to get the message across four main leaders in the Civil Rights Movement started acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience. These leaders were Bayard Rustin, Andrew Young, James Farmer and John Lewis. With their help they created sit-in and marches to get their...

I never thought that I could take a burn
I never had the strength to take it higher
Until I reached the point of no return

And there's just no turnin back
When your heart's under attack
Gonna give everything I have
It's my destiny

I will never say never (I will fight)
I will fight till forever (make it right)
Whenever you knock me down
I will not stay on the ground
Pick it up, pick it up
Pick it up, pick it up (up up up...)
And never say never (ne-never say never x3)

I never thought that I could feel this power
I never thought that I could feel this free
I'm strong enough to climb the highest tower

Cuz there's just no turnin back
When your heart's under attack
Gonna give everything I have

Explain Why Guns Should Not Be Allowed In Schools

...Should students, teachers, or any school executive be allowed to carry a gun to school? Guns should be allowed in schools because if somebody is going to walk in the school sending gun threats to frightened students or start firing their weapon. Who is going to protect you through the long five or so minutes, or until he runs out of ammunition? Although some may argue that guns should not be allowed in schools because young adults in school are not mature enough to carry a gun, because of a short disposition, or trying to show out. Students, teachers, or any school executive should be allowed to carry a gun to school to protect their Second Amendment right( right to bear arms), and the right to protect themselves in any public school function, event, or during school hours. One reason why guns should be allowed in schools, is because in the fifties and sixties young adults were allowed to carry weapons in the truck/car and there have never really been any big problems. Knives were used in schools everyday for everyday uses, and there was never a big problem with bad dispositions....

American

...Professor J. O’Brien October 6, 2013 What Does It Mean To Be An American? For hundreds of years the United States has been attracting immigrants from a variety of different countries, races, and religions to come live in a land full of freedom and opportunity. These people were looking for more than just rights and privileges. Their real desire was to become something that represents pride and honor, an American. Being an American means much more than living in the United States. Along with the name come a number of different benefits such as, freedom of speech to express your own opinion, freedom of religion, and equality for all, including different sexes, races, religions and status. As an American you have the right to speak your mind. Expressing one’s opinion is a big part of being American. This particular freedom enables us to serve our country, as we stand up for what is both right and just. Being American also means that not only do we have the opportunity to overcome challenges by coming together to find solutions that those from other countries can’t but we also have the freedom to worship as we please. Unlike other countries, American’s are not defined in terms of religion. This question was posted on my Facebook page for some insight. As expected, some of the comments were uneducated dribble. One comment that stood out came from my brother-in-law. He is a Swedish citizen but resides in the United States. He wrote “The question is mind-bogglingly...
