October 30, 2013 Finding Your Workout In terms of figuring which type of workout will help someone the most, there is a good amount of debate in all aspects of fitness, health, and nutrition. Each offer benefits and drawbacks. In many cases, males believe calisthenics will not help them gain muscle, while some females are afraid of weight training because it will bulk them up too much. This is simply not the case, as long as you have a proper training regimen, either can be used to obtain your goals. The way I see it is not necessarily if one is better than the other, both types of training are effective in their own separate ways. I see it as a combination of the two will give the best results because, this way you can obtain the best of both worlds. Calisthenics or an exercise that uses your body weight for resistance is something that can be a part of almost any training regiment, because of a number of factors. For started this type of exercise requires very limited or no equipment at all to do, also it can be done virtually anywhere, from a park, to a beach, a road, or the comfort of your own home. One of the greatest benefits of Calisthenics is it’s accessibility to everyone, no matter what their current level of fitness, geographic or finical restraints are almost anyone can set a goal and attain it through calisthenics. However, said there are definitely certain downsides and limitations of calisthenics. [Such as the strain it puts on your joints can be overbearing for certain people, and that strain will worse if you are performing the exercises without proper form.] Also, it can easily become increasingly difficult to scale a training regimen for participants, as they’re fitness level increases, without proper guidance. Another thing is it is more difficult to bulk up, or put on large

Health and Fitness Myths

...It's easy to fall into the trap: A gym buddy passes along a workout tip, and then you pass it on to several people you know. Your kid’s coach gives you advice, and sure enough you hear the same thing from several other parents. So you figure it must be true. But experts say that in the world of health and fitness, myths and half-truths flourish – and some of them may be keeping you from getting the best and safest workout. "Some myths are just harmless half-truths, but many others can actually be harmful. They can cause frustration in working out and sometimes even lead to injury. One reason myths get started, is that we all react to exercise a little differently. So what's true for one person may not be true for another." (Harr, 2001) That said, experts say there are also some fitness myths that just need busting! Running on a Treadmill is Easier on the Knees Sorry, but it is the running itself that stresses the knees, not the surface you’re pounding. To ease the impact on your knees, experts advise varying your aerobic activities: mix running with riding a stationary bike or using the elliptical machine at the gym (Cool, 2012). Crunches Lead to Six-pack Abs Sure they will as long as you also get rid of any belly fat that obscures your abdominal muscles. While crunches strengthen muscles, they won’t burn off the fat in your belly. To flaunt your newly crunched abs you’ve got to trim the fat via diet, cardiovascular exercise and resistance training. And, of course, for...

Loosing Weight

...the work and making sure that you aren't using muscles that allow you to cheat. It isn't about setting a new world record for repetitions and it isn't about getting through your assigned reps just so you can be done with them. If you do them wrong, there really isn't that much of a point to doing them at all. #2. Sets and reps Breaking your exercise routines into sets of repetitions will help you get more out of exercising than just trying to do as many as you can until you get tired. You should do sets of equal repetitions. Rest in between each set for about a minute, then continue on to the next set of reps. What this allows you do is to work your muscles in a more complete fashion than you otherwise would. #3. Weight and strength training A good way to help burn excess fat faster is through weight training. This works because by building more muscle, your body will require more energy to maintain your muscle mass. This means that as long as you don't also increase your calorie intake, your body will look elsewhere to get the calories that it needs. And that means that it will take the excess fat from you body and stomach area. So you should build muscle so as to raise your metabolism in order to lose weight and burn fat naturally. #4. Do your exercises slowly and with control Don't perform your stomach exercises quickly just to get through them. If you do each move slower and with full control you will achieve far better results. Even if doing them slower means that...

Crossfit

...Abstract In this paper, I will explain what CrossFit Training is and what the benefits are compared to a typical exercise program of isolated muscular training combined with a cardio workout. I will also examine the impacts that CrossFit Training has had on college athletes and athletic teams as a whole at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (UPB). I will look into what teams have the most athletes with experience with CrossFit training, how many UPB athletes have used it on their own time or during the offseason, and the general feeling towards CrossFit Training and its effectiveness in improving fitness. Introduction In the physical fitness realm, there are many different kinds of exercise programs. There are programs that focus on dancing, ones that focus on stretching, and ones that focus on core strength and conditioning. CrossFit Training is an example of a core strength and conditioning program. It was developed to enhance an individual’s overall ability to complete physical tasks by incorporating many different forms of exercise, from gymnastics to weightlifting (Glassman, 2002). CrossFit Training is different from the popularly accepted idea of a workout because it’s not just situps, curls, leg press, and a half an hour of cardio. CrossFit is all about combining movements and shorter, high intensity cardiovascular sessions (Glassman, 2002). For every long distance effort, a CrossFit athlete will do five or six at a short distance. This is implemented...

...improve your health forever – 100% GUARANTEED! Step-By-Step DIET GUIDE 6 STEPS LET’S BEGIN... The actual goal of most fitness and slimming programs is to increase the ratio of lean muscle to stored fat. That means trimming a lot of fat and toning/building muscle. It does not mean “losing weight.” We’ve heard ads that promise 10 pounds of “weight loss” in a weekend. And the only way that is possible is by losing water weight. Maybe you’ll lose a pound or two of fat by starving your body along the way. But the rest is water weight. And of course, as you re-hydrate, your weight will go right back up — but because you starved your body, your metabolism was reset! So the next time you eat food, your body will be ready to store any leftover calories as fat. And soon you’ve got more fat stored than when you started. Not good. to transform your body. 1 CONTROL your portions. Don’t eat until you are full, eat until you’re not hungry. 1 CONTROL your portions. In restaurant terms, generally, eat half what the chef serves you. An adequate portion of a meal is 3 ounces of protein (like chicken, tuna or lean ground beef) which is about the size of your palm. Don’t eat until you are full. Eat until you’re not hungry. Same goes for salad dressing; On a large salad, limit it to just enough for taste. You will be surprised how much less dressing you need to get the same flavor. Control Your Calorie Intake and Portion Size This is what we call the “Classic Calorie Equation.” Your daily exercise...
