Kudler Fine Foods is a premiere grocery store that carries only the finest quality meats, produce, cheeses and wines. It is a great set up for shoppers willing to spend a little extra money in order to get some high quality foods. When it comes to being a specialty store though it becomes a more difficult store to run and keep thriving. Some of the problems with Kudler are that they deal with primarily perishable goods. Also a couple more problems are they only have one main manager that does everything and keeps the store afloat, and that she also opened a store that is not doing as well as expected. I believe these are some minor speed bumps in a profitable company that if they are fixed this company can become huge.

When dealing with primarily perishable goods, the foods shelf life is drastically lower than other grocery stores that do you preservatives. When the shelf life is shorter if these goods do not sell right away then they are no longer up to their standards, so Kudler donates them to the food shelter or just throws them out. This results in a loss on that product and takes away from Kudlers income. One solution I think that would help the company in the long run is instead of throwing the goods out after two to three days, they should be put on a different shelf and marked down in price. For example, if it is three days old and is not longer fresh enough to fit their quality standards they should mark half off the original price and put it on a sale rack. In order to not scare people into thinking their food quality is below standard they should put a sign up letting them know that they are a couple days old and that’s why they are on sale. Putting up a sale rack might attract some more bargain customers that are willing to shop there if they can pay just a little less for the food.
