PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to geologically evaluate the potential hazards for flooding in Hazard City. This report will include a detailed historic and extrapolated Stream Gauge Data Worksheet, as well as a graph of the Discharge Frequency Curve expected on Clearwater River. The report will provide Hazard city with my scientific analysis, conclusions, and provide recommendations concerning potential flood damages.
METHOLODOGY
The methodology used was to utilize the Recurrence Interval formula (R) = (N+1)/M, to determine the recurrence interval and magnitude of historical floods provided on the Stream Gauge Data of Peak Flood Discharges on Clearwater River in Hazard City. Also, I reviewed the flood insurance map to determine areas of floodplains and I utilized the topographic map of Hazard City to compare with the flood insurance map and to make my own conclusions regarding the geographical areas at most risk. Lastly, I used the discharge-frequency curve data and graph to determine the discharge of a 75-year flood in Hazard City.

The data from the Stream Gauge Worksheet helped to prepare the Discharge-Frequency Curve. The Stream Gauge Data worksheet was also useful in determining the magnitude as well as to conclude the recurrence interval of each Peak Flood Discharge.
CONCLUSION
My scientific assumption based on the data is that areas closest to the Palouse River and Clearwater River will have the most issues with overbank flow, or flooding (Keller, 2008, p. 264). Since the areas of Point Park and Riverside are floodplains, it is hypothetical that those areas would flood the worst. However, the railroad would also be inundated by flooding which would seriously damage the railway. Also, the area of Ralston located below 840 feet in

...Introduction Natural Hazard any natural event which has an adverse socio-economic impact on the human being. Alternatively, an extreme natural event, such as a cyclone, an earthquake or a flood, that is not caused by human beings. These are naturally occurring phenomena that only become hazardous due to the intervention of human infrastructure. The vulnerability of human infrastructure to destruction (risk) by a disaster is also an important factor in understanding natural hazards. The distribution and impact of natural hazards is unequal with greatest loss of life and property in the developing part of the world. This is not because of greater hazard frequency but simply because of greater vulnerability. Therefore, the people in the developing countries are at high risk than those of developed countries. Combining the risk factor the natural hazard can be defined as the probability of a change in the natural environment of a given magnitude occurring within specified time period in a given area while the associated risk is the consequent damage or loss of life, property and services. The frequency of major hazard appears to have increased since 1960 and the number of people killed each year has decreased at a rate of about 6% and the loss or property has also decreased steadily.
