“Melts in your mouth, not in your hands”. That’s the slogan for one of the most popular chocolate candies in the world. The inventor of this marvelous creation was Forrest Mars. M&Ms are nationally popular from regular people to the president. They are so popular that they are stocked on Air Force One. But what makes Mr. Mars truly important is what he has done for the allied troops during World War II by sending tubes of M&M’s overseas to help with the rations. So if he was never born, then millions of people would be lost without their precious chocolate treat and the war might not have turned out for the best.
Forrest Mars was born on March 21, 1904 in Wadena, Minnesota. When he was six, his parents divorced and he was sent to live with …show more content…
While on an excursion to Chicago, Forrest placed advertisements along all the primary buildings on State Street. Sadly, he was arrested for this. Nevertheless it was a blessing in disguise. Forrest estranged father Frank Mars, heard about what had happened to his son and scurried over to the jail to post bail. Forrest was over the moon, since he had not seen his father since he was six. After Forrest was released he and his father went to have some drinks at a soda fountain to talk about the future, not their past. They chatted about things they had in common like business. That was when an idea came into Forrest’s head for his dad to make candy bars that tasted like the chocolate malts they were drinking! Frank agreed.
So Frank got to work and the nice creamy soft and sweet creation we all know was called a “Milky Way”. It was malt flavored nougat bar with a layer of smooth caramel and a solid chocolate coating. The Milky Way was a success and that year $800,000 worth of bars were sold. They were only a nickel and a pretty good size. When Forrest saw that sales were good, he headed back to California. Later in 1925 he transferred to the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University in New Haven,Connecticut. He then decided to get a degree in industrial engineering to help him better empower the

Defeating the Enemies Will

...Defeating the Enemy’s Will: The Psychological Foundations of Maneuver Warfare DAVID A. GROSSMAN The will to fight is at the nub of all defeat mechanisms … One should always look for a way to break the enemy’s will and capacity to resist. Brig. Gen. Huba Wass de Czege Defeating the enemy’s will. That is the essence of maneuver warfare, that you defeat the enemy’s will to fight rather than his ability to fight. But how do you defeat a man’s mind? We can measure and precisely quantify the mechanics of defeating the enemy’s ability to fight, and it is this tangible, mathematical quality that makes attacking the enemy’s physical ability to fight so much more attractive than attacking the enemy’s psychological will to fight. At some level none of us can truly be comfortable when we dwell on the fact that our destiny as soldiers and military leaders ultimately depends on something as nebulous and unquantifiable as an enemy’s “will,” and we are tempted to ignore such aspects of warfare. But somewhere in the back of our minds, a still, small voice reminds us that ultimately the paths of victory run not through machinery and material, but through the hearts and minds of human beings. So what is the foundation of the will to fight and kill in combat and what are the vulnerable points in this foundation? In short: what are the psychological underpinnings of maneuver warfare? To answer these questions, students of maneuver warfare must truly understand, as we have never understood before...
