Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. Unfortunately, bullying is an unwanted service to many children around the world. Students who are bullied do not always have the ability to report and terminate the bullying. The results from the 2016 Presidential Election have increased bullying incidents because of ethnic and racial backgrounds. This article is entitled “Four Myths About School Bullying And the ‘Trump Effect” and certainly does give specific details about bullying and how Donald Trump has affected and increased bullying. Hillary Clinton recently released a new school policy proposal, her intention was to hurt her opponent and give her an advantage in the election. Clinton’s plan was to launch a $500 million initiative called “Better than Bullying.” The money would come from states who would have to pass laws and construct school-based interventions, and many other plans to receive the money. Although, the federal government would also help the states pay for Clinton’s bullying plan. …show more content…
Although, I believe it is good that students are aware of what is going on but not good to bully someone on their opinion of what is going on in the world. I also believe that the classroom should mainly be for learning, but it is also a good thing for students to express how they feel about a topic. Students can freely voice their opinion in a polite way where it would not be considered bullying. I believe the way to resolve this situation is to find a way to civilly discuss the events in the classroom, which is another reason why I do not support common

Mine is the proverbial office watercooler, where opinions are shared and gossip is exchanged. I hope to enrich the vocabulary that people use when they talk about the judgments and choices of others, the company’s new policies, or a colleague’s investment decisions. Why be concerned with gossip? Because it is much easier, as well as far more enjoyable, to identify and label the mistakes of...

Idioms and Expression

...Idioms and Expressions by David Holmes A method for learning and remembering idioms and expressions I wrote this model as a teaching device during the time I was working in Bangkok, Thailand, as a legal editor and language consultant, with one of the Big Four Legal and Tax companies, KPMG (during my afternoon job) after teaching at the university. When I had no legal documents to edit and no individual advising to do (which was quite frequently) I would sit at my desk, (like some old character out of a Charles Dickens’ novel) and prepare language materials to be used for helping professionals who had learned English as a second language—for even up to fifteen years in school—but who were still unable to follow a movie in English, understand the World News on TV, or converse in a colloquial style, because they’d never had a chance to hear and learn common, everyday expressions such as, “It’s a done deal!” or “Drop whatever you’re doing.” Because misunderstandings of such idioms and expressions frequently caused miscommunication between our management teams and foreign clients, I was asked to try to assist. I am happy to be able to share the materials that follow, such as they are, in the hope that they may be of some use and benefit to others. The simple teaching device I used was three-fold: 1. Make a note of an idiom/expression 2. Define and explain it in understandable words (including synonyms.) 3. Give at least three sample sentences to illustrate how the expression is used...

...the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering. Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing offlimits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted. Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values. Walter Isaacson, the CEO...
