Title VII protects our employees and applicants from being discriminated upon based on their sex. The fact that we as the employer have a preference for hiring women over men in is not protected under the few exceptions that Tile VII makes for employers. The “bona fide occupational qualification” or BFOQ, for example, is one of the exceptions that do not apply to our situation. The BFOQ allows for sexual discrimination when the “essential” part of the particular job requires the applicant to be of a certain sex (1).
