Part One: Assessment Technology: So I used Edmodo.com/ahutchison01. I found it to be very easy to use and to post quizzes and communicate with my students. So when you go to the website, you will login by picking the student option and then they will ask for a Group Code: dzcbct. This will give you access to my website. I have created a 5-question quiz Place Value and Rounding, which is a formative assessment that will need to be completed prior to every quiz day, which is Wednesday. I will introduce the objective of this lesson, introduce the vocabulary and will let then know the purpose of learning place value and rounding and how we do things in our daily lives. This is a formative assessment at it will let me know who is paying attention in class and understands the material and I will have to make sure that I am giving those few students the extra attention they need to make sure that they can keep up with all of the material that we are going over. The answer to the 5 - questions are: 1. A 2. B 3. B 4. B 5. C

Introduction
Utilizing software is very important to supporting assessments as it can keep a detailed record of the students progress throughout each class, grade or assignment which a great tool for any teacher to have at their disposal. It’s something that needs to be implemented to every classroom in some way whether you use Plickers.com for younger students or Edmodo or Socrative for higher grade levels. Teachers just have to find whatever is comfortable for them as an individual which will help them succeed and grow as teacher and will be able to reach all of their students on a level that is comfortable and will give them the best chance to succeed in every classroom and know what their strength and weaknesses are when it come to academics. Black and William (1998) argued that teaching and learning should be interactive and they asserted the value of formative assessment. Technology to Facilitate Ongoing Efforts to Assess Student Learning (Describe how teachers can utilize technology to facilitate the ongoing efforts to assess student learning in the classroom. Remember the focus of this section is using software to evaluate student learning. You can incorporate resources here to validate your rationale on how technology facilitates assessment. You can use subheadings to define specific sections of your paper. )
Mimio Vote Mimio Vote is a great way to track students progress over time it lets you track all of their quizzes, test and it is interactive. Each student has their own handset and is logged in by the teacher, the quiz or test can be teacher instructed or self-paced in which the teachers can download all of their answers instantly and can have an immediate assessment of how each student is progressing in the class depending on the subject. There is a USB in which everything can be downloaded and the teacher can take all of the information with them wherever they may go. Being able to use this software anytime in class a great, the only major responsibility is that you make sure that all of the handsets are put in the right place and charged at the end of each week or day depending on usage. For example if the teacher gave an interactive test once a week it would be easy to track with Mimio Vote. The teacher will deliver each question to the students then they will answer on the key handset and the information will be delivered and downloaded the same day to let teachers know what each student may have trouble in whether it is over time or if it’s weekly or even daily.
Edmodo
Emodo is a great website that is really amazing, it seems to be very helpful and easy to use for the classroom and for the teachers and students as well. You can login as a Teacher, Student, or a Parent. So once you create your account as a teacher you will give all of the students a code that they will have to plugin to access their teachers website. You can create quizzes, test, post important information about any assignments and track progress of students development. So if a teacher notices that particular student has been struggling they can have them take this online quiz and no one will know their results except for the the teacher and student. Teachers can also have assignments turned in on this website which make for a more efficient classroom and it can be accessed during class which each student can work on their assignments independently.
Kahoot
So this is a great website that the is a little more fun as you build quizzes that the students can access through computer, cellphone or any other electronic maybe an Ipad depending on the school. So at teacher can use this website during down where they need to get some work done or they need to give students a change of pace. Kahoot you can also embed videos for a lesson plan and then create the quiz to go along with it and then you are able to track comprehension and how well each students is doing. It can be extra credit assignment or a refresher prior to a big exam at the end of the month, depending on the grade, subject or the student.
Formative and Summative Assessments So summative assessments are based on quick quizzes to assess a students’ understanding of material that has just been given. For example if there was just instruction on how to do work in the lab, the teacher will give out a quick quiz to see who was listening and understood all the material and who made need to review again (Gunter and Gunter, 2014) . This can be done easily with Mimio Vote, just ask all the questions needed and have them answer in multiple choice from their handheld device. Formative assessments are based on specific time spans that are given at differents times throughout the school year to make sure that the student is learning and mastering all of the knowledge through various quizzes, activities and assignments.(Gunter & Gunter, 2014). Kahoot would be great for this type assessment as you can embed videos and then have them do the quiz right after and this can go on throughout the school year and then you can see where each child is developing and what needs to addressed. Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Assessment
So there can be many different ways to look at assessments when you use technology. It all depends on how much you use, what you use it for and the grade level of the students. When it comes to elementary school students technology should be used seldomly, which will be more beneficial for the teacher and student. As there will be less distraction to use technology for other things but also give the instructor to manage their class. Formative assessments will benefit the most when it comes to technology as it is consistently documented.
Formative assessments are practical i.e. they improve expertise and concentrate in scheduling, minimise student nervousness, afford students an additional sense of possession as they develop, and, eventually, endorse the conception of the module contents (Smith 1997; Stiggins & Chappuis, 2005; Stiggins & DuFour 2009; Wlodkowski 2008)
Summative assessments can be a con if they are done to frequently online as students can become distracted with trying to do other adventures on the computer, Ipad, tablet or even a cell phone. You can find pro’s and cons in both just have to make fit your classroom environment and be able to control all that is asked. Teachers will have to keep up with latest trends of what software needs to be use or having to adjust to a new way of teaching can be difficult for older teachers.

“Should a teacher only use technology to assess student learning? Why or why not?”
No they should not as there can be many other ways to assess students other than just online. They can keep all documentation on the software but there should be a balance of tech work and written work as students need to interact with other students and having only technology to assess the view will not well-rounded and interaction with other students will be limited. Several researchers (Chung, et al., 2006; Van der Pol, et al., 2008; Vonderwell, et al., 2007; Wolsey, 2008) have revealed the pedagogical prospective of online formative assessment. Nevertheless, it is also of utmost importance further make sure that the learning setting offers the learners enough chances to not only learn actively but prospects to take part in learning which replicates their real world professional settings.
What is the importance of assessment technology in connection with the ISTE standards? Assessment Technology is so important to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) as it help gauge where we are in society and what is helping the students and teachers succeed. If gives inspiration to students and teachers and creates a great environment for learning. As stated in the standards for teachers ISTE: Develop technology-enriched learning to enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities. As you can see there are many different ways to assess students learning and being able to see where all students can rise and fall when it comes to academic is very important. No student should be overlooked and all should be engaged and with the software options chosen will be great sources for anyone who is looking to become more technologically inclined in their classroom. But just being mindful of what you are comfortable with is a great self-assessment. Remember to reach out, research and you will have great success in the classroom as will the students.

Fun Blocking In Schools

...Fun Blocking Schools across the United States over the past few years have tried integrating technology into classrooms. Of course to have technology they need to have internet for most things to work. Schools must block certain websites so students do not get distracted. These websites would be like social medias, inappropriate websites, and websites that could communicate with other people. Schools block these websites because they are distracting for kids in the classroom, students can could talk to strangers and endanger them and the school, and certain websites could damage the computer by viruses. When having the option to listen to the teacher or get on their phones most students will get on their phones. It might seem that schools wouldn’t have to block social media considering they could go on during a nonintrusive time but, students will still check their social media feeds during class. The school must block social media because those apps are most used on a student's phone. “92% of teens that are ages 13-17 and have a phone go online to social media everyday” (Teens and Social Media). Students will also go on other websites to look at online shopping. If students can not access these websites to get distracted then they can pay attention better....

Spirit Week Research Paper

...qualities like, being a stress reliever, showing school pride, and showing your own creativity. During this week kids get to be weird and have fun without worrying about what others think of them. Spirit week has a mass amount of work into it and the fun had during it is all worth it. Additionally, adults get to participate to and have fun which is important since they are always working. Stress is something students and teachers have, but during spirit week kids seem less stressed during this time because they're having fun and participating. First off, less stress equal to kids being more focused in class and not worrying about assignments that are due. Secondly, students are more calm because they're having fun and getting out all of their energy during wiki and lunch so by the time they get into class they're not all energized. Lastly, it can be a time for teachers to relax a bit and also have fun. Their students are always energetic and stressed outside of spirit week, but it subsides so the teachers aren't...

Cheerleading

...Most say that cheerleading isn’t a sport but I am about to tell you the difference. There’s cheerleading for the football and basketball teams which is basically just for fun. Honestly when people say cheering isn’t a sport I tell them that sideline, which is when you cheer for football, isn’t a sport but when you compete I and others consider it a sport. Everything you do no matter what sport it is, you should have fun doing it. Friday night games is when you go out there and perform your best for you, your team, and your audience. Cheering for your school football team is the best feeling ever when you can you just be able to go out there and cheer on your team. Being a cheerleader you are usually the football teams number one supporter because we will always be behind them 100 percent win or lose. A cheerleader pretty much represent the school, you are expected to have the most school spirit, represent your school with pride. When you are out in public you definitely need to present yourself well and act right because if you look/act badly out in public someone will call you out on it and then you just represented you, your squad, and your school badly. Competition cheer for the school has to be the best decision I have ever made in my high school career. Walking out on that mat for the first time ever is the most nerve wrecking feeling ever because you want to put your all out there on that mat just for two minutes and thirty seconds of your life. But first you have to...

Why We Should Start Later In School

...Rough Draft: Do you want school early in the morning? School isn't always that fun. Especially on a monday. Right after you wake up from having fun and sleeping in you have to wake up at 6:30, you're probably going to be tired. I believe this because I’m always tired after the weekend, we would get more time to do homework and hangout with friends if we didn't have school so early in the morning. School in the morning isn't fun. Waking up early isn’t fun. Waking up early can make you tired. This could affect your grades by making them worse. A test has proven that your brain isn't fully activated until 10 o’clock A.M. Waking up early can make you tired for a long time depending on who you are. Autobiography

...After being in school for the last thirteen years of my life, I would say I have a good education. Me being who I am, I think I am common sense smart more than book smart. Looking back, my education, my knowledge has improved. From learning 1+1=2, to the quadratic formula and George Washington to Barack Obama. My education has improved tremendously. We had about 15 people per classroom and it was more girls than guys I would say. Throughout grade school which being from kindergarten to the fifth grade, we were a diverse school. We had a couple gay guys, a few blacks, a couple Mexicans, and whites. This didn’t really affect me in anyway because I truly believe everyone is created equally. Having people being different didn’t affect my school. School is school, and only you can have a good or bad experience. The grading was on an easy scale which gave a wide range for an A and B and so forth. We had strict rules that basically if you didn’t do your homework you would receive a 0. Teachers had the power to do whatever they wanted with the homework and punishment. When I say punishment I don’t mean out of control, but if you miss taking a test and don’t make it up, you usually get sent to the principal’s office to take it. I had no trouble in the school with anything. I went along the day doing my own thing and minded my own business. In middle school the teachers were very on task. I think that’s because you are getting used to the fact that you’re in middle school for three years...

Kindred Argumentative Essay

...Have you ever wanted to go to a movie that you really, really wanted to see, but you didn’t have anyone to drive you all the way to Fargo? That happens to me a lot, and I don’t like being in that situation at all. If Kindred got a movie theater, it would be a lot easier to convince people to drive you to a movie because it’s not as far as Fargo. It would also supply high school students with jobs all year round, provide a great place for friends to hang out and have fun together, and then people in the Kindred area wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Fargo, just to see a movie that won’t even last that long. Kindred should build a movie theater. High school students usually want to get a job. But what if they don’t have many job options...

School Bells Research Paper

...School Bells… I started kindergarten at Spring Hill Elementary School. There my teacher’s name was Mr. Shortner. Around half way through the year I won student of the month at that school and not even three days later I switched schools to Chocachatti. My kindergarten teacher’s name there was Mrs. Noark. Everyone thought she was the best teacher ever. She didn’t like to give us homework so we used to call her Mrs. No Work. She was really nice and loved teaching the class. My mom was excited for me to go to kindergarten. She was excited because she wanted me to learn in a new environment and meet new friends and have fun new experiences. When I was in kindergarten I got in trouble for sleeping in class a few times. I would fall asleep while a teacher put on a movie or a video or when we had an easy day. Chocachatti is a performing arts school so we would do plays and musicals all the time. I remember my class was connected to another class in the hallway to get to the other class there was a little stage and seats for the audience. That was my favorite thing to do while I was in kindergarten. I would pretend that I was on stage performing a play and the audience of my friends...
