In the suspenseful fictional novel, "The Art of Racing of the Rain" by Garth Stein, it illustrates that the own fear and self-destructive nature of each individual is something that one must fight against. Through the act of the character Enzo, he prevents Denny from signing the documents and the zebra, in which he does not give up in front of the zebra, and overcome the devil insides him.

In particular, when Mike is convincing Denny to sign the documents and give up the custody of Zoe, and Denny is about to sign the papers, the zebra shows up once again.
