Answer the following 4 questions. What is the smallest probability the intersection of A and B can have? What is the largest probability the intersection of A and B can have? What is the smallest probability the union of A and B can have? What is the largest probability the union of A and B can have? .15, .4, .75, and 1 respectively. Extra 1.2 Suppose we are rolling 2 independent, fair 10-sided die. Let A be the event that the sum of the rolls is a prime number. Let B be the event that the sum of the rolls is odd. Let C be the event that the sum of the rolls is even. Find the following sets: BC , A ∩ B, A ∪ C, A ∩ C, (A ∩ C)C , A ∩ (B ∩ C)C , (A ∩ (B ∩ C))C ? BC = C, A ∩ B = A \ {2}, A ∪ C = Ω \ {9, 15}, A ∩ C = {2}, (A ∩ C)C =Ω \ {2}, A ∩ (B ∩ C)C = A, and (A ∩ (B ∩ C))C = Ω. Extra 1.3 Suppose a lottery has balls numbered 1-20. 4 balls are picked at random and without replacement. Let A be the event that all 4 balls are even. Let B be the event that all 4 balls are less than 10. Let C be the event that all 4 balls are primes. (Allow 1 to be a prime.) Find P(A), P(B), and P(C). (Hint an extended general multiplication rule could be helpful.) P(all 4 even) = (10)4 (20)4 = .0433. (9) P(all less than 10) = (20)44 = .0260. ...MKT 533 Branding Strategy Cases Dr. Diane Badame Fall 2015 The price of this reader reflects a 20% discount on production costs, due to the early submittal of material by the instructor. Dear Student: Reproduction of copyrighted material, without prior permission of the copyright owner, particularly in an educational setting, is an issue of concern for the academic community. Unfortunately, the impropriety of much unauthorized copying is all too often overlooked by users in an educational setting. Although copying all or part of a work without obtaining permission may appear to be an easy and convenient solution to an immediate problem, such unauthorized copying can frequently violate the rights of the author or publisher of the copyrighted work, and be directly contrary to the academic mission to teach respect for ideas and the intellectual property that expresses those ideas. With that in mind, the University Bookstore has sought permission and paid royalties for all materials enclosed. The price of your reader reflects those necessary costs. Budget

...OVERVIEW UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE FISCAL YEAR 2014 BUDGET REQUEST APRIL 2013 OFFICE OF THE UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE (COMPTROLLER) / CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER Preface The Overview Book has been published as part of the President’s Annual Defense Budget for the past few years. This continues for FY 2014, but with modifications as proposed by congressional staff. From FY 1969 to FY 2005 OSD published the “Annual Defense Report” (ADR) to meet 10 USC Section 113 requirements. Starting with the President’s FY 2006 Budget, this report was no longer produced. Subsequently, the Overview began to fill this role. This year to ensure compliance with Section 113, new chapters are added to include reports from each Military Department on their respective funding, military mission accomplishments, core functions, and force structure. Key initiatives incorporated in the FY 2014 Defense budget. Our budget is formulated based on aligning program priorities and resources based on the President’s strategic guidance. This year’s budget involves key themes to: achieve a deeper program alignment of our future force structure with resource availability; maintain a mission ready force; continue to emphasize efficiencies by being even better stewards of taxpayer dollars; and continue to take care of our people and their families. Implementing Defense Strategic Guidance. The FY 2014 budget request continues the force structure reductions made in the FY 2013 budget request. Following...
