The short story by Julia Darling called “The Dress” written in 2006. The story is about the two sisters Rachel and Flora. Rachel has bought a light green dress to wear at the dinner they are going to with their mother to celebrate her fortieth birthday. But when Flora found the dress lying in the kitchen, she takes it because she felt that it was meant for her. She destroys the dress, and it creates a tension between the two girl at the dinner. At home the tension develops when Flora admits taken, destroying and burying the dress. The fight leads to Rachel going to their father’s house and Flora leaving, which leaves the mother alone. We hear about four characters in the short story Rachel, Flora, the mother and Floras friend Alberto. We don’t hear who’s the elder and who’s the younger sister.
