...midnight for Daylight Savings Time? If something wasteful was costing you money would you want to continue doing it? What if it was bad for your Health? Each year millions of dollars are thrown out the window due to Daylight Savings Time. For the last 50 years we have had to move our clocks forward one hour during the spring, and push them back one hour during the fall. This process is called Daylight Savings Time, a concept that I along with many others feel is no longer practical and should be abolished. Daylight Savings Time was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 as a way to conserve on candles (History of Daylight Savings Time-DST). ...Wherefores of Daylight Saving Time The question I always ask myself on the second Sunday morning in March when I look at the clock upon waking up and see that is already an hour later than my usual waking hour, is “Why?” I feel I am already behind and I scramble to catch up all day long and then, when the clock tells me that it is time to go to bed, I really don’t feel like it, but know if I don’t, the next morning will bring a struggle to wake up and get going. And then along comes the first Sunday in November. It’s easy to get up – the sun is where it should be. But around eight or nine o’clock in the evening I feel myself getting drowsy, but have to wage a painful battle to stay awake because I know if I go to bed too early, the next day I will be waking up hours before I should. So, once again, I ask why? Why can’t they just leave the time alone! I say it’s time to stop the insanity of Daylight Saving Time once and for all. Just as many people enjoy early morning light as do extended evening light and if there is no real evidence of energy savings during DST, it’s time to do away with it. The story goes that Benjamin Franklin (remember “early to bed and early to rise”) was the first American to suggest Daylight Saving Time (and, by the way, it is Saving, not Savings as most of us say) because he felt that not using that extra early morning daylight in the summer months was just wasteful. But he never was able to implement it. The first year Daylight Saving Time was actually...

Financial bondage is a serious problem that is easy to get into; getting out is much harder. First, children and young adults should be taught at a young age to manage their finances. I believe young adults (including Dalat students)...

...Darlene Davila March 22, 2015 English 90 Essay #2 Prof. Nicole Brown Getting Started "The single most important factor to getting rich is getting started, not being the smartest person in the room." - Ramit Sethi Most of us want to live a financially stable life, but become too afraid to get started because we have all these negative views on money, credit cards, or anything that has to do with the financial world. I have come across many negative thoughts that have paralyzed me into starting a simple bank plan for my funds to grow. My ultimate goal is to let go of those fears that are holding me back from making my bank account become stabilized. This paper will refer to Mo Tzu's essay "Against Music;" Ramit Sethi in his book "I Will Teach You to Be Rich;" Gandhi’s essay “Economic and Moral Progress;” a Chapter of the New Testament in the Bible, Luke chapter 16; and an online article "Zen Habits" by Leo Babauta. I came to the realization once I started doing research and reading more books on finances that in order for me to come up with a plan to help my money flourish into something more, I need to cut off all the learned negative thoughts about money. A lot of these negative thoughts are created because we lack the knowledge on banks and bank accounts that can help us become more successful in our finances. Once I started my research I learned great ideas and strategies on how to grow financially. Not only will I need to carefully plan out my goals based...

...Thomas French about the elephants brought to Lowry Park Zoo in Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captivities. The elephants are being saved from culling by transfer them from Swaziland to Lowry Park Zoo. Similar to the Vancouver Island Marmots, the elephants are also declining as culling continues in Swaziland. Since elephants are intelligent and strong, they tend to destroy their habitat unintentionally. Beside cull practice, there are also others threat that the elephants endure in the wild, such as being shot by the hunters. Thus, by putting these wild animals in the zoos, it would save the elephants from being killed cruelly and from the brink of extinction. Through the effort of saving the elephants, we are also protecting the environment from getting damaged by this animal. The rationale for saving Vancouver Island Marmots and elephants are similar because of their status as endangered species and also because of their lost...

I cannot fall asleep until after 10 PM, even if I go to bed early, so this requires gaining additional sleep in the morning. The morning process starts with waking up and taking my vitamins while the shower warms up. Once in the shower, I wash my hair and then scrub my face. After which, I wash the rest of myself and condition my hair. After rinsing off, I shut off the water and dry off. Once dry, I apply cologne, antiperspirant, eye drops, and allergy nasal spray. From there I shave, apply lotion and style my hair. When this is complete I get dressed, prepare lunch and breakfast, eat, and leave for work. This process takes 45-50 minutes. The success of my organizational effectiveness is connected to the quality policy (QP) in place by management (I). The QP includes the...

According to John B. Taylor in November 2008, which states that, “the empirical research he presents in his paper strongly suggests that specific government actions and interventions should be first on the list of answers to all three questions that he posed, which were; What caused the financial crisis? ...Preparation Outline 3: Visual Aids By Caresse Walden Specific Purpose: I want the audience to understand how the military members can accumulate money for retirement with a tsp. Thesis Sentence: While in the military I realized how helpful a TSP savings plan really is when thinking about retiring from the military. Introduction While in the military not only can you retire by getting the same amount of pay you were getting before you retired but, you can also put money aside in a tsp (thrift savings plan). The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is a Federal Government-sponsored retirement savings and investment plan. Congress established the TSP in the Federal Employees' Retirement System Act of 1986. The TSP is a defined contribution plan. The retirement income that you receive from your TSP account will depend on how much you have contributed to your account during your working years and the earnings on those contributions. The TSP offers the same type of savings and tax benefits that many private corporations offer their employees under so - called "401(k)" plans. Body 1. Some of the features of the TSP * Your TSP contributions are taken out of your pay before taxes are computed, so you pay less withholding tax now. * TSP earnings are tax - deferred. This means you don't pay Federal (and, in most cases, state) income taxes on your contributions or earnings until you withdraw the money - usually at retirement, when you are in a lower tax bracket. ...

...the trend of reshoring and it effect on America. Reshoring is the action of a company to bring jobs back to the United States (US) that were once being done overseas. The trend has been happening a little bit over the years but has gained some steam over the past few years. Some of the reasons for this shift is that the low cost labor advantages that some countries had in the past is eroding due to inflation and other factors. Another factor is costs associated with the logistics of getting parts from overseas location to your market in the US. There are other factors to consider when it comes to reshoring such as innovation, diminished customization, and concerns of quality. All of these factors are reasons that reshoring is occuring and gaining steam. Reshoring Reshoring is when jobs that were once being performed overseas is being brought back to the US. This trend has been happening over last few years but in the last couple of years this trend has gained some steam because the cost saving that were once so prevelant overseas is no longer being realized now. The cheap labor force that existed isn’t as cheap as it once was. The areas of the world that supplied the cheap labor have risen the wages of their workers and the skill set that is required is no longer available. Another factor that there is to consider is the logistics of moving parts from overseas to its’ marketplace in the US. Then there is the other factors to consider when a company is thinking about reshoring...
