Goal Setting Worksheet

Review this week’s resources (for example SMART criteria, and the Career Plan Building Activities). Respond to the following in 50 to 100 words each:

1. Describe one academic goal that you have created using the SMART criteria. How do SMART criteria contribute to your academic goals? One goal I have created using the SMART criteria is to have all my work in by Sunday afternoon. I can create a map each week on how to accomplish this goal. Although it is not a huge goal that is long term it is a very important one and not as easy for some people as it is for others. SMART criteria contribute to my academic goals by showing me how to properly achieve each step you have to take to achieve my goals.

2. Describe one professional/career goal you have created using the SMART criteria and Career Plan Building Activities results. How did the results of the Career Interest Profiler and Career Plan Building Activity on Competencies contribute to your professional goal development? One career goal I have created is to choose which firm I want to work for when I get my degree. Having this in mind will help me create my plan on how to get to the place I ultimately want to be. By knowing where I want to work I can better understand the requirements it takes to get there. The career interest profiler really didn’t help me too much because it came back with careers that I have no interest in being in. The Career Plan Building Activity on Competencies helped me a lot though because it made me realize a lot of things about my personality that I hadn’t taken into consideration before so it helped me focus my strengths in the right places to achieve my career goals.

3. Describe the stress and time-management strategies you have learned this week that will help you achieve

Reading Philosophies

...Reading Philosophies Tammie Johnson Grand Canyon University: EED 470 December 12, 2012 Reading Philosophies One of the biggest issues that teachers continue to face in public schools is teaching students how to read. With the No Child Left Behind act in place, teachers are being required to use different approaches to get the students more involved in their learning process. In this essay we will discuss two philosophies that are being used in schools today, and those philosophies are Constructivism and Explicit Instruction. Teaching strategies have long generated debate and ideological controversy, especially as to ‘best practice’. Two clear orientations have provided the basis for this controversy: direct (or explicit) instruction, and student-centered constructivist approaches ((Rowe, 2006, p. 1). In order to develop good reading skills, the teacher must first determine which philosophy will benefit his or her students in the classroom. From a constructivist view, the teacher would use a student-centered approach and the students would learn by constructing their own knowledge and meaning through the use of hands-on and problem solving activities. Also from a constructivist standpoint the classroom environment would consist of open discussion about various topics that would build a foundation for reading on what the students already know by sharing their personal experiences through writing personal journals and narratives. Also in a constructivist classroom the student...

Guide to Wrting a Killer Business Plan

...e- Book Series Guide to Writing a Killer Marketing Plan Written by: Steven Fisher Purpose of this book You are either someone that has been doing marketing as a part of your professional career or you look at as that “thing you do to promote your business and attract customers to buy”. Regardless of where you are along that spectrum, you have arrived here because you have been charged by the CEO of the startup you work for to write a marketing plan for your business or you need to create one for your own business. You need to not just write just any marketing plan. You need to write a Killer Marketing Plan. One that your boss will say “awesome, let’s get started” and which will tell all those people who have been looking for a product or service like yours for a long time. This book is written for you. Marketing plans are sexy mistresses that tempt you to include all of the coolest of campaign ideas without the sanity of budgetary constraints. While marketing is one of the more important functions of a small business, it is one that is limited by the budgets of that business and campaigns must demonstrate a return in order to justify their existence. Since I have written more marketing plans than I care to tell you, I can share with you my knowledge and experience of what has worked almost all the time, some of the time and none of the time. While this is not the single tome on marketing plans, I hope that this helps you balance the unlimited creative...
